Chapter 59

944 Words

We are installed in full state and regalia here at Westminster and ready to initiate the first reforms that are high on the present, new agenda. The First Statute of Repeal will be hurried through Parliament and we will restore our country to the true Christian religion of the Church of Rome. All the religious legislation passed through by our brother, Edward VI will be fully repealed. The Latin mass will be restored and priests will no longer be allowed to marry. They must remain celibate and I wager none will like it. The church in England will be governed by doctrine set out in the Six Articles of 1539. Then there is the question of restoring the legitimacy of my late mother, Catherine of Aragon and that too must be facilitated with all due speed and purpose. First things first though.
