CHAPTER 12

1197 Words
AFTER A MONTH.... It was finally November, the month which Aveline never anticipated to come across her life because Christmas has always been bad for her, most of the days made her feel like a loner than rest of the year. She was lonely yet again which didn't imagine as Casper was supposed to be with her but since he wasted a lot of time, Gilbert literally locked him up with schedules. He used to call her at regular intervals to check on her knowing that she has no one else. After two weeks of that ritual, his phone calls ended all of a sudden but he texted her twice telling that he was preparing for a come back and no one allows him to go on socials. Aveline, was trying to understand him but at times she lost her control that she ended up in the bath tub. She wanted someone to hold her, tell her it was just another bad but at the same time she didn't want anyone to see her in that miserable state. November gave her another hobby apart from drawing something random, a way to kill her boredom and finish off the large sum which Jacob gives her. It felt like he was the one who keeps her in earth without giving her peace but then he behaves like he is bearing with her for some weird reasons. So the new hobby started two days ago and today was her third day to the same place for the same reason. Aveline was now walking to the auditorium where jazz concert would be held for the promotion of some music school. Casper asked her to visit there and even arranged the passes a month ago because it was a confidential program. She refused his help because it felt as if he was giving her some to replace his absence as if it was his duty. Maybe his way of showing her that, he is sorry for shutting her out for the time being or maybe out of sympathy. She didn't want either of it but she didn't want to put all of his effort in vain because of her silly pride. It was a few minutes walk and it was across the maple leaf filled garden path which she enjoyed a lot. Aveline hid her hands in the over sized coat pocket and walked slowly, kicking the autumn leaves to either side cutely. Her beret made her look a little strange in the neighbour hood because it was a very old fashioned one which she cherished. Her gaze were low as she loved watched the dried leaves getting crippled under her boots, making her go back to her childhood days. She was almost at the end of the path when a sudden wind blew causing her beret to blew from her hair, as mentioned it was old and loose for her. Aveline panicked before taking a sudden turn to chase the possession before some one stomps on it. The beret was not on the leafy path making her more tensed that she kneeled down, ruffling the piles of leaves. Her hands hesitantly making another mess but soon, it hit something hard, something black. "Are you cleaning my shoe?" A man asked looking at her with suspicious eyes. "Oh, I am sorry." She apologized pulling her hands off and jumping up to notice her beret was in his hands. "Be careful." He said tossing it to her before walking away, tucking his soft wavy brown hair behind ears. Aveline frowned at his cold actions and the rudeness in his deep voice and it felt like she was drowned in some ocean for a second. His voice was resonating in the air but apart from that she didn't even see his face. He wore a mask but it was quiet common because Canada offers the best dust allergy to everyone possible so they are advised to wear mask. Aveline didn't care about those because if a allergy can get her killed, she wants that. She continued her walk and ended in the auditorium which was full with some elegant ladies and gentlemen who had hands clasped on each other. She was the only one who wore an oversized jacket and a baggy pants, walking on her own without any care about the situation. She got glares from the people on the first two days but this day, it was not bothering her much which was kind of suspicious. Aveline took her seat at the back, away from the others and looking straight at the stage, where no one has came up till then. Aveline looked at her watch which was ticking by slowly, indicating she still has few more minutes for the program to start. She looked down at her lap and fidgeted with her bag strap, not wanting to exchange glance with others but the others were busy too. They keep introducing their partner to the other and keep smiling, with soft talks through pressed teeth. "Such fakes." She huffed before tossing her head to the other side to not see their actions. Aveline wanted to throw up at the scene that was happening there. A man affectionately or lustfully making love with a girl as if it was his bed room and not a jazz concert. Her whole mood dropped down as if she was thrown down a roller coaster and regretted coming there. She wanted to call and curse at Casper but that was not an option too. The lights went down and the stage was bright, catching the attention there which was a relief for her. The music started as always and Aveline tried her best to enjoy it to the maximum so that her tension and stress would disappear. The song was calming and quiet but the sudden instruments which pop up unexpectedly scared her a lot. She wondered why people of these days wouldn't listen to such songs but who cares. She enjoyed those songs because she was used to them since her old days. "Boring?" A sudden voice cooed in her ears and she jumped up from the seat, almost scaring everyone around her. "Aghh, you scared me." Aveline held her popping out heart before sitting back. "You almost exposed me." "What's with that deep ass voice, you almost killed me." Aveline hit the boy's hand roughly. "Who knew that you were such a scardey cat? I came to give you a surprise and I will have to go back before the program ends." Casper whispered into her ears before leaning back to his chair. "Why did you even come? Does Gilbert know?" She asked looking around to see if there were a bunch of guards. "I am alone and I dropped by on my way to the studio. I have an hour free so came to check if you are here." He smiled at her through his mask and she could recognize it because his doe eyes completely closes when he smiles. "So kind of you." Aveline rolled her eyes before shifting the focus back to the stage but she was lowkey grateful that he came.
