“All right! All right!” Jake said. He closed his eyes and rubbed his forehead. “You’re right. I’m sorry. I’m really, really sorry. I’ll apologize to Molly as soon as she wakes up. And I’ll do better.” He made himself look into Alice’s eyes. “I promise I’ll do better.” He thought that would mollify her, but instead it only seemed to make Alice angrier.
