Not having the advantage of mental communication, Danton was not privy to the same level of information about their surroundings that the newly arrived woodfolk were. So, being a dedicated protector of his liege, Danton headed out before breakfast the next morning, to scout around and get a feel for the area. As soon as he left the clearing, the greenness disappeared and he found himself once more surrounded by brown, leafless trees. He skirted the clearing in a wide circle, studying the tracks into it and looking for signs of other people having been there. Now and again, he waved to a lookout as he passed.
