CHAPTER 1
The lights of the town began to flick on as the sun set in the west. The sky was turning a million different shades of pinks, oranges, and purples. Many of the residents of Maddox were now hitting the street, leaving their mundane jobs to head home for the evening.
He flipped the hood of his jacket over his head and looked down at his feet, trying to hide his face from prying eyes. Most of the beings in this town wouldn’t know who he was if they tripped over him, but there were a few who would, and they were the ones he was trying to avoid.
Although he had changed his appearance the best he could since the last time they had seen him, there wasn’t a doubt in his mind that if certain beings laid eyes upon him, they would recognize him and he didn’t want that.
