Daisy found herself in an SUV, the Alpha sitting directly beside her.
The marriage rites had ended with Daisy feeling numb most of the time, which was attributed to the passionate kiss they both shared in the dressing room.
Her parents had seen her off as they entered the car, leaving for her new home.
In no time, she had slept off. By the time she awoke, she found herself in a cozy room which looked rather bland.
She sat up for an instant, unable to recognize her environment. Furrowing her eyebrows, she whispered, “Where am I?”
She did not see the young girl standing beside the bed…
“You're in your room, Lun…”
She couldn't complete her statement as Daisy jumped off the bed screaming.
“Ahhhhhh….”
She screamed so loudly that the door flung open, revealing the Alpha, his eyes frantic, darting around the room in alert.
“What is the matter? What happened? ". He asked, rushing to the bathroom, he flung the door open and inspected it. Nothing.
The girl stood at the corner of the room, trembling, almost in tears, while Daisy wore a sheepish expression on her face. She tried to get her breathing back to normal, as she didn't notice that she wasn't alone in the room.
“I'm sorry, I…I thought I was alone. She scared me. " She said, glancing at the girl, whose name was Mira.
“Out, Mira!” He growled and she immediately scurried away, muttering. “Yes, Alpha.”
“Your first day here and you're already scaring them off. Way to go Luna.” He said.
Daisy eyed him warily. “I told you I didn't know she was here all along. By the way, how did I get here? What is this place?” She asked, looking around.
He shrugged, coming over to the side of the bed towards her.
“You slept like a baby throughout the trip. You didn't even know when I carried your heavy ass up here. And this is our room. Luna”
Her face flushed, red like Scarlet.
She scoffed, “You could have just woken me up,” she said. “And I am NOT heavy.”
Her stomach chose that exact moment to growl loudly, causing her to touch it in sheer embarrassment.
He sighed. Looking at his watch, he said; “It's time to meet the others.
He left the room, shutting the door behind him. Walking into the kitchen, he saw a female figure sitting like she was waiting for him.
He rolled his eyes.
“What is this I hear about a Luna, Alex?” She asked. He sighed as went over to the fridge
“It's exactly what you heard, mother. I have a mate now.”
She scoffed, “A Mate? You mean... A second-chance mate? "
Alex stopped midway drinking the water, his jaw tense, eyes flickering, as memories flashed through his mind.
“I hope she's at least better than that bit***, Camille or whatever her name was.
At the mention of Camille, his jaw tensed.
"So unfortunate." She continued.
“I can't believe the moon goddess paired you with someone as despicable as she is.”
The memories flashed through Alex's mind.
He stood on the rocky hill, while the lady lay on the cold ground, whimpering. Below was a huge waterfall.
“Plea…please, Al… Alpha…” She raised her hands weakly, in an attempt to reach out to him, but Alex just stood there, with a cold expression on his face, his eyes completely red.
“It's time to go.” And with his legs, he pushed her down the hill. She screamed, her head hitting the rocks as she fell, deep down and into the river until he could see the bright red color floating in the water…
“...Quite a pity she was killed by rogues during the attack.” His mother's voice brought him back from his thoughts.
He smiled wryly and looked away.
“And now, this girl. Who is she and where did you pick her?” she asked.
“A lot is happening right now and my position is threatened. The best thing to do right now is to have Luna beside me. She's my Luna starting today, Mother. "
“Then you should have at least spoken to me about it.” Alex sighed, rubbing his forehead.
“I need her, mother. And, I am very capable of making decisions. I'm not 12, you know.”
Just then, Daisy strutted into the kitchen. “Can I get some water, please?” She asked Alex, completely ignoring the woman sitting.
Alex's mum just stared, incredulously.
“And who might you be, you manner-less piece of scum!”
“Are you blind that you could not acknowledge the presence of an elder in the room? And in the middle of a conversation? Who do you think you are?” She asked, fuming.
Daisy froze, her legs rooting at the spot. She didn't understand why she was suddenly being attacked when she had just simply asked for a bottle of water.
“I'm…I'm sorry.”
He looked away, took another sip of water, and left the kitchen.
He went straight to his study and decided to look over some files. But the door swung open and his Beta, Collins, dashed in, looking around the room, eyes darting around like he was in danger of some sort.
Collins was practically Alexander's right-hand man. He oversees most of the pack's affairs, especially when the Alpha isn't around.
“Collins?” Alexander looked at him, quite taken aback by the force of entry.
“What is this? What the hell are you thinking barging in here? "
“I have been looking all over for you. Where have you been? "
Collins looked dazed and flushed, his eyes flickering from the usual brown to a hint of red.
His wolf was prancing, excitedly.
“Oh…uhmm…I'm sorry. I thought…what is that smell?” he asked, sniffing the air.
“What smell?”
He furrowed his brows, seeming confused, but shook his head.
“It's nothing. I… I don't know what came over me. "
You should go for a run. I think your wolf needs to be let loose. "
He nodded.
“You haven't answered my question. I said, Where have you been? I have been back for some hours now but have yet to get a report from you. "
“I'm sorry, Alpha. I was…distracted. "
Alexander sighed.
“That is by the way. I need a complete detailed report of the Alpha conference that was held recently, as soon as possible. I’d expected everything to be ready on my desk by the time I returned, but no, YOU were nowhere to be found.”
“I’m sorry, Alpha. I'll get them ready as soon as possible,” he said, bowing slightly.
He made to leave but Alexander said, “I need you to prepare every necessary thing required for Luna's ceremony.”
Collins widened his eyes.
“Luna? You mean, YOUR Luna…as in, your mate?” He seemed to be in a state of shock and surprise. He never knew the Alpha would be so blessed as to have a second chance mate.
The lack has been empty without a Luna. Ever since Camille, the previous Luna…
He shook the sad thoughts away from his head.
Excitedly, he said:
“Congratulations, Alpha. The moon goddess be praised.” He was ecstatic.
The pack needed a Luna, and it was just about time they had one. It also didn't help that Alpha's position was being threatened, and he contemplated giving him the recent update.
But, he has a mate now, and everything will go back to normal.
