Walking out of NOW Advertising I couldn't help but smile.
Yeah, the man I was going to be working with is a bit of an ass hat, but this job was going to be the making of me.
I haven't been this excited since I first got into my first choice University with my BFF. I can barely hold my excitement trying to fish out my phone from the bottom of my bag.
Seriously, why do I need all this rubbish?
Where is it? Finally!
Going to my recent calls, of course, Bee my BFF is at the top of the list. I can't wait to tell her.
"Hey, Bee I got the job!"
"Congrats Lil! We need to celebrate tonight... I have an idea why don't we hit that new club, have a few, then grab some junk food on the way back? Plan?"
"Honest Bee, I could use a drink after that interview."
"Tell me about it later. I've got to run sis."
Getting back to the flat in no time at all. I have only just realized this commute is going to be a delight.
What am I going to wear to the club tonight?
Bee is the total opposite of me. When I first met her, I was so jealous. She was so confident and outgoing. Everyone wanted to be her friend.
I felt alone and kept to myself. To be fair, it was a new primary school and I was like 5 years old. I knew no one. This was when I found out how kind Beatrice could be. She noticed me alone and crying after some other kids had been mean to me. I was alone and sat eating my lunch and she came over to make sure I was okay and then I wasn't alone anymore. Bee brought me out of my shell and we have been by each other's side ever since.
I do still get jealous. When we go out, she gets all the attention. She is smart as well as beautiful. With her natural blonde hair, people underestimate her. She has the Californian surfer girl looks with tanned skin and blue eyes that no man can resist. She drags me to the gym four times a week and you can see all the guys drooling.
I know I'm no Quasimodo, but even working out four times a week I'm still a curvy girl. I love my curves, I really do, but what would I give to look like one of the girls in magazines? Just to feel sexy and confident.
Even getting ready tonight, I'm struggling to do my makeup. I don't wear a lot. Not because I don't want to, I just never got the hang of it. Bee is the one that normally does my glam looks.
When Beatrice comes through the door, the first thing I hear is the bag clinking at her side.
"Hey, fancy Ad Exec," she says, coming into my room with a smile and 2 glasses plus a bottle of champagne under her arm.
"I'm not an Ad Exec yet! I'm just a secretary for now." I am still beaming and happy just to get my foot in the door.
I take the glasses from her and she starts to open the bottle. The "POP" made us jump a little and giggle a little.
As Bee starts to pour, the concentration washes over her face while trying not to let it fizz over.
"So how was the interview? Any hot guys I need to meet?" She nudged me, nearly knocking the glasses out of my hand. I passed her one of the glasses and took a sip from mine.
"It was good, then strange, then amazing."
"What do you mean, strange Lil?" I watched her as she took a sip, smiling knowing she was about to make a face.
"Why do you always get Champagne when you hate it, Bee?"
She laughs "It's the done thing now spill."
"Well, a few minutes into the interview, Phillipe Megar, the head of the agency came in. Bee, he literally made everyone stop talking just by walking into the room. You know how I get with weird silences, but I just stared at the floor so I didn't say anything stupid."
"Is that the strange part, Lil? You not rambling?"
"Shut it, I can be quiet sometimes". I even eye-rolled at my own statement.
Bee just chuckled.
" He literally said it was a mistake to hire me and then gave me the job. I'm sure he wasn't listening to me half the time. This man is going to be hard to please. Never mind confusing."
Bee just nodded and took a couple more sips, still making the same face as before, she makes me laugh.
I can't wait for this night out. After tonight I have to find a way to be perfect for this hard-to-please man.
