Night it changed

NARA POV It had been two weeks since my father commanded that I was locked in. Since that day I had been treated like an outcast, nobody talked to me. When I walked through the Hallway their conversations would stop followed by whispers and scornful gaze of the maids and how they treated me. My own mother couldn't even look me in the eye. Was I that bad? What did I do to deserve this?. I tried remembering everything that happened. The one thing I could remember was the night Ellie told me to meet her at the bar, a month after I arrived. And because I was stupid enough to believe she had accepted me. I went. I had gone over that night countless times, trying to figure out where it all went wrong. **FLASHBACK “Sister, I brought the dress you asked for. Where are you ?” “Come in, tell the guard to direct you to VIP 3 table, I'm there.” “Eli-” She ended the call. I stared at my phone for a moment before slipping it into my purse. I entered the bar, the noise hitting me immediately. Music pounded through the floor, coloured lights swept across the crowded room. People danced, drank and shouted over one another. The air smelled of perfume, alcohol and something heavier. I tightened my grip on the bag. “Excuse me, where's Vip 3?” The girl I asked barely looked at me. She was too drunk to answer. I thanked him and moved deeper hoping to see her. Then I heard my name. “Nara!.”Someone called out. I turned. Ellie was sitting in one of the private booths with Stella and several other people. I smiled with relief. “There you are”. I walked over and held out the dress. “ Hey, here's your dress. If there's nothing else I'll-”. Stella suddenly grabbed my hand. I froze. “What?”. She looked me up and down before laughing. “She really came dressed like this?”. She reached out, tugging at my top. The others bursted out laughing. My smile disappeared and I could feel my stomach drop. “What's wrong with what I'm wearing?” I asked quietly, putting it back into place. Her smile widened “Oh look she has a voice”. The laughter grew louder. Heat crawled up my neck. I looked at Ellie, she didn't laugh instead she was simply watching. “Don't get close to her, she might steal something from you”. Someone whispered loud enough for me to hear. I looked at Ellie again, she was still watching. Why wasn't she stopping them?. “I swallowed. “Ellie…”. She finally smiled. “ Sit down sister”. Something about her voice made my stomach tighten. Still I still obeyed. Stella pushed a glass in front of me. “Drink”. I stared at it. “I don't really drink”. “ Don't be difficult”. “I said I do-”. She grabbed my chin, tipping the glass toward my mouth. I jerked away, coughing some of the liquid spilled down my chin. Everyone laughed. My eyes stung. “What's wrong with you people?” “Here” Ellie picked a glass. “Give her this one” She handed it to Stella. I stared at her. There was no concern in her expression. Not even a little. “Ellie, what are you doing?”. “Drink” I should have left. No I shouldn't have even come at all. Grabbing the glass from her hand, I drank it and I could feel the burning sensation down my throat but it wasn't enough to hide the humiliation I was facing. “More give her more” They all cheered as they pushed different glasses filled with different alcohol. I downed them one after the other, listening to them snickering and whooping out. The room gradually became warmer. My head began to feel heavy. I placed my hand on the table. “I'm going home”. *Already, the fun just started and I'm sure you don't want to miss out”. Stella laughed. I tried to stand. My knees nearly gave out. I placed my hand on the edge of the table. ‘What’s happening to me?’ I had been drunk before. This wasn't the same. My vision blurred around the edges. The music sounded distant, as though I was hearing it under water. I looked at Ellie. She was whispering something to Stella before they stood up. “Where do you think you're going”. “Home”. The word came out weakly. “Not yet”. She smiled. I stumbled backwards. “Ellie?”. She didn't answer. Panic began to push through the fog in my head. I turned towards the bathroom, desperate to clear my face. Cold water splashed against my face. I gripped the sink and stared at my expression. My face was flushed. My eyes looked unfamiliar. “what's wrong with me?”. My hands trembling, I could feel my skin getting hotter with each minute. I needed to get home. I pushed myself away from the sink. Before I could reach the door, I heard voices outside. “Check the stalls”. My heart dropped. A stall door slammed open. Then another. I backed away. “she's not here” “Check again, with what's in her she couldn't have left already”. It was Ellie. The bathroom door opened. Stella appeared. I tried running but she caught me by the collar. “Found her”. “No, let me go”. I grabbed her hand. She dragged me outside. My feet barely touch the floor. “Please…” Nobody listened. I could hear laughter behind me. The hallway spun. “Here take her” Then someone grabbed my hand. Another one closed around my shoulders. “You know what to do” I opened my eyes only to see Ellie standing in front of me smiling sinisterly. Leaning close to my ears “let's see if he will accept you after finding out you've been tainted”. She whispered. “No.. Let me go” I struggled but I was too weak. They dragged me out. One of them cursed when I stabbed him with a pen I'd been carrying. Another stumbled when I kicked him. I fought as hard as my weakened body allowed They grunted “Get her”. I tried running fast but I was slowly getting weak. The next thing I knew a different hand grabbed me from the side, pulling me into a room. “Hot, hot” I muttered. It was someone different I could tell from the smell of Cologne on him. And that was the last thing I knew before I lost consciousness.
