MIA
"Did the sky fall on you or what? Do you know what you're saying? I shouldn't marry Cage?" Tania questioned, getting annoyed with my words.
I felt scared of her voice. She's my stepmother after all, and she's always terrifying when it comes to me suggesting she do the opposite of what she wants.
Though I was afraid of her, I still didn't want her to make the mistake of marrying Cage as her husband.
"Tell me, why shouldn't I marry him?" She asked, placing both hands on her waist.
I cleared my throat and said, "See, he's... Well, Cage doesn't look like a man fit to be a father or husband figure. He looks like one who likes women. I don't feel he's right for you and he won't give you the happiness you truly want."
"Because you're the marriage expert or relationship professor, which one?" She tilted her head with her brow lifted, asking me.
On hearing that, I immediately sensed her anger at my words. It's clear she's not going to listen to me.
"You don't want me to marry Cage Rolland because he's your ex-boyfriend's uncle, isn't that right?" She asked, stepping closer to me.
"Well, it's... It's not just that. Cage is..."
"Shut up, " She shunned me, causing me to shiver at her order.
"You think I don't know what you want to do? I'm not stupid, Mia. You are jealous of the fact that your boyfriend embarrassed you at his party, revealing his true motive behind dating you, and you want to exact your revenge by ruining my own love life?"
"Mom, you're misinterpreting the whole thing. I'm not..."
"Be quiet!" She sparked at me, raising her hand, almost striking my face.
I froze when I saw her hand. It got my feet drifting from her side in fear.
When I looked at her face, she began to laugh at me mockingly.
"How sad. Poor Mia can't bear the fact that she was used by Andrew. The guy had a much better girlfriend, a sexy cheerleader. And you think he'd choose you over her? '' She laughed.
I felt my heart aching with pain, watching my stepmother mock my situation.
It hurts.
"I don't give a damn if Cage is following a thousand ladies. Who has the ring?" She asked, showing off the engagement ring.
"I do, " She smirked with pride engulfing her.
"You better get in there and make my bath or I'll make you regret ever making such a stupid plan to ruin my life, " She said, threatening me.
With my head bowed, I apologized to her.
"Sorry to yourself," She hissed.
I made my way through the path with my eyes welling with tears. When I got into her room, I broke into tears, unable to wipe her cruel words from my heart.
"I only wanted to help her. She didn't have to go that far as hurting me," I cried, falling to my knees.
"It's clear I'm on my own in this. She won't listen to me. I just have to find a way to keep Cage away from me," I told myself, sobbing.
.
The next day, while getting ready for school, Tania didn't cease the chance to bully me about last night's matter.
"Do send my greetings to your ex," She mocked, laughing at me.
I left the house without answering her. She just left a sting in my heart, and I don't know when it will leave me.
When I got to school, eyes fell on me with cackles coming in left and right. It was from all the corners.
I had my head down, walking faster into the building to get to class. I don't want anyone walking up to me or reminding me of that embarrassment.
But I was wrong.
Even in class, some of Cherry's friends that sat in my front, immediately got down to work, mocking me.
"How is your day going, Miss Wannabe?" They laughed.
I lowered my head down, trying to act as if I didn't see or hear them.
"Oh, come on. Don't hide from us. No matter what you do, everyone now knows you as a slum."
"You thought that handsome rich and hot guy was going to date an ugly pig like yourself?"
"Oh, I can't wait to see what would happen when Cherry learns you're here."
"Cherry? " My eyes widened within my face and my heart skipped in fear.
I saw one of them taking out their phone to call Cherry and let her know I was here at that class.
That got me worried. I know Cherry and what she can do. She's the ultimate bully here in college.
Scared, I immediately grabbed my bag and rushed out of the class.
"Hey! Why running?!" The girls called, laughing at me.
I had my feet pacing away from class, with my mind praying I didn't come across Cherry.
But destiny had a different plan for me.
The moment I arrived down the stairs, I bumped into Cherry, Andrew, and a few of their friends.
Fear gripped me at once, especially when Cherry pushed me back with force.
"Where are you running off to, pig?" Cherry insulted, letting out a smirk.
They all surrounded me, getting students around, and watching.
"I was just leaving," I said, avoiding eye contact with them. But it was hard to ignore Andrew's gaze.
It got me hard.
"She's afraid to look at me in the eyes. You know you're worthless and it's the truth," Andrew said, drawing near.
I took my steps back but got pushed by the others. They all began to take their turns, pushing me around like some kind of dummy.
"Stop it," I begged, but they took my plea as a ringtone and mocked me.
"She said stop it."
"Stop it!"
"Stop it! "
They laughed, still pushing me about.
When I got near Cherry, she gave a big push, almost sending me to the ground. But someone held me, wrapping an arm around me from behind.
I felt my heart beating before noticing the stunned look on my bullies’ faces.
That got me looking back to find someone I least expected to see here.
"Cage?"
