Mia’s POV I followed Tania straight to her room, trying hard to ignore the text message Cage had sent to me. But it was like a heavy cloud hanging over my head, impossible to shake off. "Pay attention to me, girl," Tania said sharply when she saw me staring at my phone. "I'm so sorry, Mother," I apologized quickly, tucking my phone away. "Take these clothes to the laundry," she ordered, pointing to a basket in the corner piled high with her clothes. Without a moment's hesitation, I picked up the basket and headed out of the room. I knew she was happy, even if she didn't show it much. As I walked down to the laundry, I couldn't help but think about Cage's message. What did he want now? I sighed, knowing I'd have to deal with it sooner or later. But for now, Tania's chores came first.
