Chapter Sixteen When I reached the ground floor of Recca's building and pointed my nose out the door, I saw skies filled with roiling clouds of dark gray. The trees along the avenue were leaning to the right, their leaves turned upside down and flailing, clinging desperately to their stems to remain attached. A roll of thunder shook the air, and I felt it in the healing flesh of my wound. All around me, smartphones blared with a siren-like scream. "Yup, tornado watch," someone said. Pedestrians were rushing to get indoors. A sheet of newspaper spun in Red Baron spirals above the cars in the street outside.
