Recca went upstairs to her office. I headed for the mall level. Grabbed a burger and a beer for supper. And then regretted it when I paid the bill. Thirty bucks for a burger and a beer? What the hell kind of world are we living in?
It was late afternoon, and I was already beat. But I wasn’t done working. I needed to report what I had learned back to the Elders of the Order. I pulled my Durabook laptop from my go-bag. Scanned my fingerprint. Entered my password. Connected to the mall Wi-Fi. Navigated to my secure email drop box.
