Chapter Ten
I arrived at Lilly's apartment ready to drop onto the sofa, close my eyes, and disappear for eight or ten hours.
I was shocked for an instant when I opened the door and saw her pink hair. Then I remembered it was her night off.
"Where the hell have you been?!" she said, bouncing off the sofa and shoving her phone in her pocket. "We had a teaching date, remember?"
I winced. "Oh yeah. Damn. Sorry about that Lilly. Remember, I mentioned about my friend needing help. Long day today."
"Whatever. We can start now, you know I never go to sleep before three anyway."
"Now?"
"Dude, you have to help me with this Fate-bending thing! I tried to do a little spell this morning, and it like, burned me. I mean, it hurt like hell! I thought you said I could touch the threads?"
