Chapter Thirty
Lucas was the first to transform back into his human body. He climbed over the corpse of the huge grizzly and placed a gentle hand on the bleeding haunches of the mountain lion.
"Marina? Are you okay?"
An astral flash, and the lion was gone. Marina lay in the grass, human again, rivulets of blood dripping down her slashed thigh. "I think I’ll be alright. Where’s Richard?"
Lucas raised his eyes to the black bear, which lay where it had fallen after losing the contest with the grizzly. The beast’s breath was slow and labored. Lucas leapt to his feet and ran to his brother. "Richie! Richie, can you hear me?"
