Chapter Twenty-Five Lilly and I arrived early at the rendezvous point, a park and wilderness preserve near Stone Mountain that was popular with mountain bikers and after-school pot smokers. The one-lane gravel road had been washed out by heavy rain in one spot. Was blocked by fallen trees in two other places. Recca’s four-by-four allowed us to crawl around these obstacles. I hoped that d**k’s big pickup would be able to do the same. If not, they would have to hike the last half-mile. The road terminated at a small parking lot, also gravel. The lot was delineated by concrete traffic barriers near the top of a short hill. Above the lot, at the top of the hill stood a pavilion that once housed picnic tables and public restrooms. The tables were gone. The restrooms were padlocked and boarded
