Chapter 23 Sammy had reduced himself down to a couple of inches tall and he stood rather uncertainly on Tom’s shoulder. As Tom scurried along the corridors, Sammy’s footing moved up, down, to the side and sometimes stopped abruptly. Sammy didn’t always adjust his position fast enough and would often seem to be standing on nothing or even trailing behind. “Of course,” he’d explained “it’s all about conserving our resources. That power pack was little more than half full, and we don’t have time to recharge. Me being small uses less power; likewise I won’t try too hard to make it seem as if I’m really standing on your shoulder.
