The ‘Space army’ (shortened in common parlance to ‘the Sparmy’) has many small encampments and facilities dotted both in the V-Cities and on the less polluted high ground. This is on purpose, to hide from all but the most discerning eye the extent of their power and the range of their activities.
In one such facility, behind a nondescript door bearing no name plate or indeed any indication of use, Major Thomas has for many years run his operation. He is a short man, rotund, given to strutting and laughing in the oddest places and at the most inappropriate times. But his eyes are shrewd and his attention to detail phenomenal.
