Chapter 5

MARIA'S POV

Sitting quietly on the couch in madam Angela's house thinking of what to tell her,a knock at the door drew my attention back to myself. I was still upset from last night's incident. Hey Maria,how are you doing? Doctor Andrew said as I helped him with his luggage to welcome him from his trip. Hope your trip went well. I asked. Well it was an amazing experience,I am just exhausted and I really miss my family. He responded.

I served him some juice and we began to talk about his trip and the experience he got. Madam Angela was still in her room with her business partners and I had to take that opportunity to make my final decision before she came. I really had fun and met so many old colleagues and it was a nice time experience to be honest. I can't wait for next year's session. Doctor Andrew continued to share his experience about his trip with me.

What's the matter with you Maria?. Why is your face like that? You don't look happy. What's wrong?. Doctor Andrew asked curiously when he noticed my troubled face. Well I am fine, just tired. I responded. Come here Maria,he drew closer to me and rounded his arm around me and asked softly what troubled me. I didn't want to tell him because Luis is his brother and might think I'm just trying to tarnish his brother's image but his caring and curious face left me no choice.

Are you still worried about your dad?. He asked.

Well,it's not about my dad this time around,it's just that your mom introduced me to your brother;Luis, about getting me a job in his company as his secretary but he turned me down and offered me a position in the cleaning department. Your brother is so rude and bossy. Am not sure I can really tolerate or work under his command. His words were so hurting and I felt like stranding his neck. I said angrily. Are you really sure he is your brother?. How come he is that rude but you are calm . I asked .

Well Luis has always been like that since we were kids. That's the reason why our dad handed over the company to him. He felt like I was weak and he was bold enough to run and negotiate business deals. But he is a very nice person if you really get close to him. Doctor Andrew said and smiled at me. I think you have to consider this opportunity,at least you will earn money to take care of yourself and your dad and also continue your education. Luis is a good person and you can work with him. He assured me. I began to consider working for him,after hearing some good things about him.

I can see the traveler is more interested in having a conversation than to give his mom a welcome hug. Madam Angela said as she entered the hall when her two business partners. She saw them off and gave doctor Andrew a hug to welcome him. How she treats her children makes me miss my mom so much. They continued to have their conversation while I also sat down quietly to enjoy my juice . Mom Maria was talking to me about working with Luis and she was just scared. Doctor Andrew told her mom . So what's your final decision Maria??. Madam Angela asked and turned to me .

Ma'am I have thought about it and decided to take up the cleaning vacancy and I will be willing to start work as soon as possible. I responded and gave a smile to show how happy I was to accept the offer.

My son is a very nice person to work for if you get close to him and I know you will really enjoy working for him. I know what he said last night was harsh and I didn't like it either but he is so serious when it comes to business. I will let him know of your decision and we will know the next step to take. Madam Angela said and hugged me .

LUIS POV

Mark, your wife is really beautiful and you are a lucky man to have a very understanding and supportive woman as a wife. It's very rare to meet a woman with both beauty and a good character. Either she is beautiful but has a bad character or vice versa. I said as I hung out with Mark and Alberto at our usual pub we visit every Friday night. I knew I was drunk from the way I was talking. I took in too much alcohol today. You are right Luis,Alberto nodded and responded in agreement with what I said. That is why I want to marry a girl from my hometown; Parma in Italy. He added. It's alright guys,I believe in a very good time,the perfect woman will come your way. Mark said and we all nodded in agreement. But Luis,I think it is time for you to get yourself a wife. You are not growing younger and I don't really like the idea of you hanging out with different girls all the time. Mark added.

Yes that's true,I really agree with you. Alberto supported. Luis you are a billionaire and every girl will be ready to marry a billionaire like you. What is stopping you from getting married?. Mark asked while their eyes turned on me .

Come on guys,why are you making me look like the bad guy here? You all know what transpired between Jane and I and you still think there is a genuine woman who will marry a billionaire like me??. If not for money, what would be a reason to fall in love with someone like me?. I said while I continued to enjoy my wine. As you said Mark,the right woman will surely come but as I wait for that time,you guys should allow me to enjoy life. I added and we toasted and bursted into laughter.

Hello Luis,a familiar voice out of my name and it was Jane. What are you doing here Jane?I asked and turned to face her. She was looking beautiful as usual but her face reminded me of so much pain. Well I came to hang out with my friends and I decided to come say hi when I saw you guys here. She responded looking so innocent. Thank you sweetheart, that's very nice of you and that alone,makes me love you more. Mark quickly responded and I was shocked about his response. I still love you Luis,I know I messed up but please give me a chance to fix my errors and I promise to be the girl you have been looking for. Jane said and held my hands. Aww you guys look so good together. Pure love birds. Mark made fun of me and I was getting pissed off by his actions. Alberto never liked Jane but Mark was so fond of her. He always says Jane is beautiful and her status matches mine. Jane is the CEO of Alpha Beauty Care;a leading company in body therapy but I wouldn't like to marry a cheating girl.

Enough of this drama Jane,there is nothing to fix so just move on with your life and leave me alone. I don't love you anymore so stop interfering with my life ok. I said angrily and walked out on them. You can't leave us like that Luis, Mark called out. I sat in my car and drove off.
