Be his girlfriend

Risha POV

When we returned home, we saw mum-mum was waiting for us.

“Good evening, mum-mum,” Alex greeted her. And I went towards mum-mum and hugged her.

“Good evening to you too,” she told us. “Now go and get fresh,” she added.

We went to our individual room. I took a long shower and went downstairs. I saw Alex was already there.

“Mum-mum let’s go eat, I am hungry,” I told mum-mum. “Yeah you are always hungry,” Alex mocked.

“So? You have any problem?” I retorted.

Before Alex could say something, mum-mum stop us. “Ok before you start another round of your bickering. Let’s go eat something.” Then we went to dining. Bella served us. During the dinner mum-mum didn’t say much. She seemed a little bit off. But Alex and I couldn’t stop our bickering over small topics.

Mum-mum already went to her room. I and Alex was watching a comedy show. After a while I went upstairs to check on mum-mum. Alex also went to bed. When I entered mum-mum’s room, I saw mum-mum was crying holding Akash uncle’s photo. I silently went towards bed and sat beside her.

“Miss him?” I asked her and she just nodded. I let her cry. When she calm down, she kept the photo in it’s place and towards me. She was looking at me with a strange look. Then asked me the most stupid question.

“I am did something wrong.” Then I realized why she asked me this.

“Did mom called you?” she didn’t say anything and looked down. I got my answer.

“Mum-mum you didn’t do anything wrong. I am staying here because I love you and I got the same love from you. Just ignore whatever mom told you, Ok?” Then I got some idea to cheer her up and called Alex.

“Rish, why are you calling me, when you only doors away from mine,” he told me before I could say something.

“Alex, shut the f**k up, get dressed and bring your lazy ass in mum-mum’s room within 10 minutes,” I told him and cut the call. And I told mum-mum to get dressed. She protested but I am stubborn. So, she gave up. I also get ready. Alex really came here within 10 minutes all dressed.

“What happened and what are you up to?” when he entered the room mum-mum was in the bathroom. So, I told him everything. When mum-mum came out, she asked where we were going at this hour.

“We are going for chocolate. I want to eat chocolate now. So, you both have to accompany me,” I told not giving the actual reason. I want her to brighten up and someone told me today that chocolate can fixed one’s foul mood.

“So how was it?” I asked them while returning home. We had our chocolate, ice-cream, we went to the park. Actually we were getting fun. Mum-mum was no more upset.

“It’s awesome. We should do this more often. What’s say mum-mum?” he suggested. Mum-mum chuckled and then she caressed my head.

“Thank you for this, sweetie. You made my day. I can’t asked more than that from God. Thank you both of you for being in my life,” she said emotionally.

“Mum-mum no need to thank. It’s you who were there always when we needed you. So it’s our duty to make you happy,” Alex told her and she smiled.

We come back home and after getting fresh I went for bed then I noticed the chocolate. I smiled seeing it. And kept it to the drawer and went for sleep.

2 months later….

The past two months was great. Alex and my friendship is grew stronger. He is such a sweetheart. He promised me that he will be patient with me and he kept his promise. He took a great care of mum-mum like his own mother.

But in the last few weeks he seemed a little bit different. He became snappy, when he saw me with another male doctor. Even he seemed distant, and lost in his thought most of the time.

“In your own fantasy world again?” I asked him when he looked me, after my hundredth time calling. We were way towards home.

“No, just thinking about something. Nothing important,” he me after a long pause.

“Seriously Alex, nothing? That’s why you looked like this. Listen I don’t know what’s going on your thick skull, but I need my old friend back. I don’t know what are you going to do but I want old Alex by tomorrow morning. Understand?” I yelled at frustration. I just can’t see him lost. I need him back.

“Don’t worry, Rish. I will be okay,” he gave me a small smile with this which didn’t match with his eyes. But I kept silent. I will deal with it tomorrow. If he keep acting like that.

After dinner I went to rooftop to get some fresh air. I can’t take Alex’s this type of behavior. After some time I felt a presence behind me, I knew who it was. When I turn, saw a nervous looking Alex, staring at me intensely. Looks like he wants to say something.

“Say it, Alex” I told him softly. He was about to say something but then again close his mouth. “Alex, you know, I won’t eat you. Just say it.”

“Rish, listen whatever I am going say is I-I…actually I… Forget it.” Saying that he was going to leave. What the f***. I stopped him.

“Alex tell me, what are you going to say,” I told him seriously.

“First promise me, our friendship won’t change after that. You won’t freak out. If you won’t like it just forget that I said something like that. Ok?” he told me nervously and I nodded. May be I knew, what he was going to say.

“I… Rish, I-I…” he again stammered. God what am I going to do with this guy. Seeing his nervousness I said that what he was going to say.

“Alex, be my boyfriend, will you?” hearing me he was like he saw a ghost.

“Alex. ALEX!” I called him. When he actually process what I was saying, he came to me and hugged me tightly. After few moments he pull apart and kissed on my cheek. I saw tears in his eyes. I removed it softly. “You didn’t answer me yet.” I told him, though I knew his answer.

“Yes. Yes. Yes. A thousand times yes. I can’t be luckier than this. Thank you so much for giving me that chance. I know it’s too soon but I won’t mess it up. Promise,” he promised me. I saw the biggest smile on his lip. That’s it I can do everything for seeing him smile like this. Then I hugged him again and he hugged me the same way.

“What is going on here,” we broke apart after hearing mum-mum. She sounded angry. I looked at Alex, he was as terrified as me. “Both of you at my room within 5 minutes,” saying that mum-mum left rooftop. Alex and I was standing dumb-folded.
