Newfound Friend

Scene 1: In Aurile Theater

*While rehearsing her song Sophia met someone.

Arianne: Hi, what’s your name?(reaches out her hand to Sophia for a hand shake) I am Arianne by the way (she said with a smile)

Sophia: (she reached out Arianne’s hand who shakes hand with her with a shy smile) Sophia. That is my name.

Arianne: That’s a cute name(she exclaimed while smiling)

Sophia: Thanks (she gave a big smile this time) Yours too. I think it’s pretty awesome.

Arianne: Thank you (gave a joke bow with a little laugh)

Sophia: (laughs a little) Want to sit with me and practice with me?

Arianne: I love to (sits beside Sophia)

*As the two girls practice with each other, they shared some techniques to each other. Then shared some stories in their lives. While being together, they soon become close to each other. And throughout the audition days, they become real close to the point that they become best friends. Until there are only 30 finalist remain. And that includes Sophia and Arianne. One by one they were called to the judges’ room. Then after the 10th finalist, Sophia was called….

Staff: Sophia it’s your turn(she said politely)

Arianne: Good luck Sop

Sophia: Thanks

*Inside the judges’ room

Judge 1: Hi Sophia

Sophia: Hi

Judge 2: So what are you gonna sing for us today?

Sophia: I’ll be singing If ever you’re in my arms again

Judge 3: Ok please proceed

*As Sophia sing her song, the judges were thrilled by her voice. They love the way she sing every part of the song for they feel her emotions in it, in addition to that is her lovely golden voice. Minutes pass and Sophia step out of the room.

Arianne: How did it went? (Walks toward Sophia who looked so down)

Sophia: I was…I mean I….I passed!!!!! (She suddenly exclaimed)

Arianne: (Pats her laughing) You messing with me huh….hahahaha…anyway congratulations (smiles big)

*While waiting for Arianne’s turn, she and Sophia are happily discussing everything that happened inside the judges room. They see the remaining finalist getting out of the room one by one, till they’re beautiful conversation was interrupted by the voice that called Arianne.

Staff: Arianne Santiago

Sophia: Oh! It’s your turn

Arianne: Didn’t notice that we’re down to the last one. Wish me luck

Sophia: Good luck(smiled to her friend Arianne)

*When Arianne entered the room. She suddenly felt so nervous.

Judge 3: Hi,…Arianne right?

Arianne: Ahm…ye…yes

Judge 1: I can see that you’re nervous honey

Arianne: Yes. A little bit actually

Judge 1: Don’t be. It’s not like we’re gonna bite or something (she said smiling)

Judge 2: So what are you going to sing for us today?

Arianne: I’ll be singing It’s all coming back to me now, by Celine Dion.

Judge 1: Hm…that’s a wonderful song. Anyway go ahead. (She said with a smile)

*At first Arianne sang the song beautifully, but the moment she hit the chorus, she didn’t hit the high note. Hearing that the judges looked a little bit disappointed, then after Arianne’s song, they discussed about their decision. After discussing they now faced Arianne.

Judge 1: Honey, you have a beautiful voice.

Arianne: (politely smiled) Thank you

Judge 2: What I love about your voice is it’s big. The problem is, I think you sang a song that is beyond your voice range that’s why you failed on hitting that high note, but overall it’s beautiful.

Judge 3: In order to be in the next round you need at least 2 votes.

Arianne: Ok (she said calmly though she is nervous inside)

Judge 1: Alright! Let’s vote then! As for me it’s a yes

*Arianne smiled.

Judge 2: For me, I’m sorry but it’s a no.

Arianne: It’s ok

Judge 3: (thinks deep) As my co-judges had said, you really do have an awesome voice, technically I think that it still needs some polish, so it’s a no for me. Sorry dear

Arianne: It’s ok, I totally understand

Judge 1: You can always come back when you’re ready

*The judges stand up and went to Arianne to comfort her for they’ve seen that her eyes are about to cry. When she got out of the room, she found Sophia, excited to meet her.

Sophia: How was it?

Arianne: (barely smiled, trying to hide the sadness in her eyes from her new best friend) I didn’t made it.

Sophia: (shocked and a little bit confused) Come on, you’re just kidding right?

Arianne: No I’m not. I’ve messed up there, that’s why I’m out.

Sophia: Oh

Arianne: It’s ok. And don’t worry cause I’ll always be there and here and everywhere (laughed lightly) to support you.

*Sophia sighed and hug her best friend. While they were joking and chatting with each other, Sophia was called by her mother.

Jenna: Hi baby (walked towards her daughter with a big smile). How did it went?

Arianne: Sop was in!!!!

Jenna: Really!!!

Sophia: Yap(barely smiled)

Jenna: Wow! But why with the long face?

Sophia: Cause Arianne did not make it.

Jenna: Oh I’m sorry to hear that.

Arianne: It’s alright Mrs. Jenna. It’s a competition that’s why it happens.

Jenna: Yah, you say. How about I just treat you both for dinner.

Sophia: That sounds amazing! What do you think Arianne, are you coming?

Arianne: Yes of course

Sophia: Oh wait, who’s that guy Mom?

Jenna: About that (calls her companion) This is Harold. Harold Anders he owns the finest restaurant in town.

Sophia: Is that the place where we are gonna eat?

Jenna: Um…yes

Harold: (reaches his hand to Sophia) Hi, it’s nice to finally meet you.

*Sophia looked at her Mom, and her mother signaled her to reach Harold’s hand.

Sophia: Ok (reached Harold’s hand but still confuse) it is nice meeting you too. Well who are by the way?

Jenna: Sophia where are your manners?

Harold: It’s ok. Well…I am your mother’s …. Boyfriend

Sophia: What?!
