CHAPTER 5 When next I woke up, it was well into midnight. I woke up groggily, body loose and relaxed – but at the same time I was exhausted. Which now begs the question: why was I awake at – I glanced at the analogue clock with my eyes squinted – the crack ass of ten minutes to 3am? I groaned, rubbing my face. I turned my head and smiled when I was met with the sight of a dishevelled Samuel lightly snoring away. I leaned down and placed a chaste kiss on his lips. Quietly, I got out of bed and made my way out of the room. Samuel had dressed ne up in one of my simple night gown that reached my thigh, the hands thin straps. I made my way over to the kitchen, turning on the lights, and opened the fridge to grab a cold plastic bottle of water. I drowned down everything and threw the bottle in the bin before switching off the lights and making my way over to the living room. Something caught my attention and I paused. The door to the balcony was open. In our heated passion, we had forgotten to close the glass door. Cold dread and fear suddenly gripped me when I caught movement from the corner of my eye. The shadow by the edge of the room was moving. I contemplated whether to ignore it and hurriedly make my way over to Samuel when I know he can provide a little bit of protection against whatever the f**k was in my house, but my body was already moving without my permission. My head turned to where the shadow was looking took dark and my eyes stared at that direction. Red eyes came into view and I gasped out loud. Before I could scream and alert Samuel, the being in the shadow dashed forward and grabbed aught hold of my throat. I left out a chocked noise, my hands scrambling to get the hand lifting me in the air to let go of my throat. I was kicking at them and hitting their arm with my fist, but they didn’t budge. The hold on my throat suddenly tightened and my fear increased. A roar reverberated on the apartment walls and out came Samuel dashing out with deadly claws out and predator fangs at the ready. He severed the arm of the person holding me and I dropped to the floor. Said person yelled out in pain but they were silenced permanently when Samuel cut off their head with a brutal tug of his hand. The sound of blood gushing from their headless body and splattering on the floor and walls, as well as their severed head landing on the floor, was loud. Two more figures jumped out of the manipulated shadows and Samuel, wearing nothing, went to work with them. I’ve managed to catch my breath, the severed hand that had been still clenching my throat had been thrown away by the far end corner. If I wasn’t so scared, id have puked at the gorey sight playing out before me. My living room was being trashed as the fight raged on and I hurriedly scrambled out of them on my hands and knees. I hurried into my bed room and locked the door behind me – holding my hands to my ears and curling up near my bed. The noises abruptly died down and I froze. I soon heard loud steps coming towards the door and for a moment I feared that Samuel had been killed. “Angel, it’s me.” I hurriedly over to the door, unlocked it and threw it open. I jumped into his arms, not caring that he was bloody. “Are you okay?!” I asked as I held his face in my hands. Samuel nodded. “Yeah. Just some few bruises here and there.” I sighed in relief, dropping down my hands. “Who are they?” “I don’t know, but let’s find out.” Together, we made our way over to the corpses and Samuel checked their bodies. He suddenly stopped and a loud inhale from him was heard in the room.. “What? What is it?” I moved forward, stepping into blood. Samuel raised one of the corpse’s arm and on is bicep was a tattoo. “Does that mean anything to you?” I asked. “These are Augustus’ men.” “Augustus?” I frowned, confused. My brain was working overtime. “Who’s August-“ My brain suddenly clicked. “Augustus?! That Augustus?! As in High Vampire Lord Augustus Orion?!” Samuel had a look of pride on his face at my fast thinking. “Always a fast thinker, Angel.” I blushed at the compliment. “Wait!” I shook my head. “Focus! Why are the High Vampire Lord’s men here?!” “They’re after me.” “Why?!” “Because they’ve been tasked to recapture me and take me back to their master.” “Recapture you? Wait, hold on. Are you saying that Augustus is the one that this that to you?!” “Yes. He kept me under his secret dungeon and he and Liam Davids were using me as they saw fit.” “The Werewolf Lord candidate is among this to?!” Okay, what the f**k was going on?! Why are all these popular after Samuel?! “I know i should have asked this a long time ago but now it’s crucial. Samuel Cross, who are you?” Samuel gave me a soft look. “Come on, Angel, you should be able to figure it out by now.” My brain was going through various details. He had an inhuman strength that was out of this world. He was taking a brew that could combat the effect of wolfsbane. He was being attacked by not only the High Vampire Lord, but also the Werewolf Lord candidate. His eyes were golden and if I could remember clearly, only Alphas of extraordinary prowess possessed golden eyes. And there was one person who fit this bill. “Oh my god... you’re Samuel Ulfric. You’re the missing Werewolf Lord.” Oh dear father lord in heaven, what have I gotten myself into now?
