That night, Margret hurried into her room, cradling her child closely. Moments later, a soft knock came at the door. She opened it to find Evelyn standing there with a basket in hand, a maid following behind her.
"Evelyn, did anyone see you come in?" Margret asked anxiously.
"No, I made sure of it," Evelyn reassured her, setting the basket on the bed. "You should rest," she added, directing the maid to sit down.
With a careful motion, Evelyn opened the basket, revealing a tiny baby inside.
