Chapter 2

1156 Words
Hating Larisa didn’t mean that Revan particularly liked Julia. Many knew about their icy relationship. They had been dating for almost two years, yet there wasn’t a trace of affection between them. No matter how much Julia tried to charm him, Revan always responded with indifference. So, what did they do during these two years? The answer is simple: they only went out together, had meals, talked, or did anything else except show affection. “I told you, he’s gay!” Talia joked confidently. At that moment, Julia threw the straw that had been in her glass. The drink splashed out of it, landing on Talia’s shirt. “What the hell?!” Talia yelled, annoyed. “My shirt’s ruined!” She hissed while patting her shirt to dry it. “I’m upset, don’t make it worse!” Julia retorted. Talia rolled her eyes, then placed both hands on the table. She looked at Julia’s sour face, shaking her head and clicking her tongue softly. “I told you, just break up with him. He’s an ice block. He’s so irritating,” Talia said again. “I don’t understand how you can stand being with him.” Julia ignored Talia’s strange look. She sighed, then drained her drink until the glass tipped over, causing her to look up. Afterward, Julia burped loudly and put her glass back on the table. She no longer cared about the stares of a few other patrons, even though Talia had winked at her and kicked her foot to get her attention. “I’m leaving,” Julia said. “I should go see Revan.” She grabbed her bag and strutted out. The person she was going to see was at home. He had just arrived, as work had kept him busy all day. “Do you want to have dinner together?” Larisa asked. Revan threw his dirty shirt into the laundry basket near the door leading to the bathroom. “I’ve already eaten,” he replied. Larisa stood in place, twisting her fingers. It seemed like she was gathering the courage to speak to her husband about something that had been bothering her for a while. When Revan turned around, he merely sniffed and rolled his eyes. He hated Larisa so much that even standing near her felt unbearable. “I need to talk,” Larisa said quietly. Revan glanced at her briefly but then turned his head away and sat down on the bed. Larisa couldn’t stand the silence anymore, filled with curiosity about what was going on in Revan’s life. She had spent years living with this family, yet she still knew so little about Revan’s life. “Why do you never talk to me?” Larisa asked nervously. Revan smirked, his lips curling into a sinister grin. “Since I’ve lived here, you’ve never once talked to me. And even after we got married, you still act indifferent to me.” Revan was silent, his mouth twitching as though holding back his anger. Then, he sighed, stood up, and walked toward Larisa. She wanted to back away or run, but for some reason, her legs felt like they were glued to the floor. As his steps drew closer, Larisa stood frozen, gripping the hem of her shirt tightly. Now, Revan stood right in front of Larisa, arms folded across his chest. “You know I hate you, so why did you want to be my wife?” Larisa swallowed hard. “It’s not that I wanted to; I just couldn’t say no to Dad and Mom. I had to obey them.” Revan rolled his eyes, then leaned back against the bed. He didn’t say anything; he just stared at Larisa, scanning her from head to toe. Larisa was perfect, Revan had to admit. She had a beautiful body, the kind most men would desire. Once, Revan had accidentally seen Larisa undressed while she was showering. Although it was only from behind, there was no denying how alluring her body was. However, despite his admiration, Revan managed to keep his distance due to the deep hatred he felt. “Listen…” Revan spoke again. “I can stay silent, but I’m worried that if I don’t, I might end up hurting you more.” Larisa furrowed her brow. She stared at Revan, confused. It seemed like he was speaking in riddles. “I don’t understand why you hate me so much, but… can’t we try to fix our relationship?” Suddenly, Revan slammed the edge of the bed with both hands, making Larisa jump in shock. Her hands, which had been clutching the hem of her shirt, now balled into fists in front of her chest. “Are you trying to make me angry?” Revan raised his head, but remained seated. “I’ve been holding it in for so long, but now I’m about to lose control.” Larisa still didn’t understand. This conversation was like trying to guess her mistake, one that seemed to make Revan angry. “If you keep talking, I might just slap you!” This time, his gaze was sharp, and his finger pointed directly at Larisa. Larisa didn’t know what to do anymore. As soon as Revan left the room, she collapsed on the floor and began crying. “What’s wrong with you?” Tamara asked when Revan entered the living room. She had been sitting watching TV at the time. Revan didn’t sit down and instead turned toward the kitchen. Curious, Tamara twisted her body to see if he would come back out. A few minutes later, Revan reappeared with a can of drink in hand. He dropped down on the sofa and finished the drink in one gulp. “Larisa again?” Tamara asked quietly. Revan placed the empty can on the glass table with a loud thud. His tight grip had caused the can to dent, showing that he was angry. “Please, Re, don’t keep doing this,” Tamara said softly. “Larisa’s been living here for ten years. Don’t you have any intention of changing? You’ve been married for over a year now. This is definitely torturing her.” “I don’t care,” Revan replied indifferently. He roughly pushed his hair back and leaned against the sofa wall. “I’ll never forgive her.” “Don’t be like this, Re.” Tamara rubbed Revan’s arm. “Larisa doesn’t know anything. That incident happened so long ago. And it was just an accident, no intention behind it.” “I don’t care, Mom!” Revan sat up, waving his hand, making Tamara move away. “I really don’t care, and my hatred for her only grows the closer she gets to me.” Revan growled and stood up quickly, stomping on the floor hard enough to make a loud sound. Tamara, unsure how to persuade him, sighed deeply and closed her eyes for a moment.
