CHAPTER 6Ryan was up by seven a.m. on Sunday morning. After showering and getting dressed, he headed to the kitchen. Everything in the refrigerator that wasn’t payment for Fred and wouldn’t survive the two-week absence had to be thrown away. After finishing off the bottle of orange juice, a hard-boiled egg, and a piece of toast, he filled a garbage bag with the remaining perishable items. The last few things which needed packing were added to his suitcase and shoulder bag. He decided he’d take a cab to the airport. The ride services were fine, but he felt a responsibility to use the NYC cabs from time to time. Those drivers needed to make a living, too.
