CHAPTER 25Being summoned to the boss’s high-rise apartment on Wacker Drive was seldom a positive development. Stratford entered the building at nine a.m. Monday morning as instructed. The doorman allowed his entry after confirmation from the owner of the penthouse, Jonathan Reese. Mr. Reese was not your typical businessman. Jonathan Reese was a tall, dapper man in his early fifties whose wide-ranging business enterprises included both the criminal, like loan-sharking and protections schemes, to the legitimate, like Oak Lawn Property Management and a chain of laundromats.
