SAMANTHA
One week of staying in this new house and I'm still missing my old home. I sigh and flip down in the sofa station at a corner in my bedroom. This house is even more luxurious than our old one.
I pull out my phone and text Kim to find out if we're still meeting for lunch today. It's a saturday and we agreed to have lunch together then shop for the costume party were invited to attend next weekend.
Me: Is the date still on?
Kim: Yup, pick me up in an hour?
Me: Sure.
Kim has been acting super weird lately, it's like she's constantly looking out for a ghost that's hunting her, and not to mention the fact that I've been observing how she and Brandon tread around each other on tiptoes. Something is definitely going on between them and I'll surely ask her about it today.
I get up and head over to the bathroom, I take a quick shower and then wear tight black skinny jeans that are ripped at the knees, these are one of my many favourites, they hug my skin and bring out my hips and ass more. I pair them with a white spaghetti strap top and black ankle boots and a dark blue denim jacket.
Then I fluff my brown curly hair and apply mascara and wear lip gloss.
Perfect. Simple but perfect. Snatching my mini bag off the bed, I throw the chain around my neck tucking the purse at my left hip then rush down the stairs.
"Honey, are you leaving now?"
"Yeah, mom. I'll be back before eight."
"Okay, have fun!"
"I will."
I walk to my car and feel eyes watching me, reaching for the handle, I turn over my shoulder in time to see a shadow. There was someone watching me from the balcony.
I squint my eyes and then shrug it off. Well, it's a balcony, whoever lives in that house has the right to be out there anyway.
I drive off to Kim's and pick her up, then we go for lunch.
Kim keeps checking her phone from time to time, I think this is the best time to ask the questions.
"Hey, can I ask you something?"
She lifts her head and clicks the side button of her phone, shutting the screen off.
"Sure, what is it?"
"Kim," I reach for her hand. "Promise me that you'll tell me the truth and nothing but the truth."
She bites the inside of her cheek and nibbles on it for a few seconds.
"Kim, I'm your best friend." I lick my eyes with hers.
"Okay," she nods.
"What's going on between you and Brandon?"
She pulls away from me and looks to the other side, refusing to meet my eyes.
"It's okay.." I whisper softly. "You can tell me."
"I think I'm falling for him, Sam." She closes her eyes. "No, I don't think, I know I'm falling for him and there's nothing I can do to stop it." Her eyes finally open and she looks at me. "I can't stop it."
"How far has it gone?" I ask.
"Just kisses, caresses and.."
"And?" I urge.
"And touching, deep touching, Sam, and I don't want it to stop, I yarn for it, crave it. Do you get it?"
My mind drifts off to my kiss with Xander but push that thought to the back of my head.
"Well, not that far but I get what you mean."
There's a stretch of silence because, then she speaks.
"Xander.." pause. "Is he-"
"Kim," I shake my head. "I don't want to talk about him."
"Okay."
"What about Ronan? Does he know about you and his stepbrother?"
"No. I don't know what to do, Sam."
"It's okay, uhmm.." I lick my lips. "Well let's wait to see what's going to happen."
"Thank you," she places her hand on top of mine. "Really."
"Don't. That's what best friends are for."
"Are you sure you don't want to talk about, him?"
"Mm mm.x I shake my head. "Excuse me for a bit, I need to go to the bathroom."
"Sure."
* * * *
I sit on the elite grounds at the school with Noah. The elite and supreme grounds is a private area claimed by the two superior groups of the school, there's a big healthy tree there with green carpet grass where people sit. No one who isn't in one of the groups is allowed there.
I lay flat on my back, staring up at Noah deep in thought. He's watching the other guys play handball.
Sensing me watching him for a long time, he turns his head over his shoulder.
"What?" He lifts a brow.
Noah is definitely handsome, no doubt about that, that's the first thing that got him into the elites because Lenny's little sister had a thing for him and then got him a place on the football team, which he earned with hard work because he proved to be an excellent player. Had that not been the case, liked by Jonathan's sister or not, he would have been kicked off the team. To be fair, let's just say, she helped him get in faster than he would have on his own.
"I have a question for you and I want an honest answer, not as friend but as any other person to the other."
"Ah, okay."
I draw a deep breath in. Noah and I are kind of in the same situation. I know he's always liked Kim but never made a move on her.
"What do you think about me, as a woman?"
He pauses and I hold my breath for his answer.
"You want total honesty, right? Not from a friend but a man." He asks and I nod.
"I think, you're very beautiful, strong, talented and extremely sexy."
"You're just saying that because we're friends,Noah, I asked you not to do it through that perspective."
He shakes his head.
"No, Sam. It's totally honest." He sighs then fully turns to face me, any trace of fun erased from his features completely. "I'll be damn honest with you. It's not Kim I've liked all these years. It's you."
"W-what?" I stutter in confusion.
"You heard me right. I've always liked you, Samantha, always. If you just take time to think about it, everything whenever we were just the two of us."
I blink rapidly, failing to wrap what he's saying around my head.
"Sometimes I fail to control myself and then I use Kim to cover up for my slip and you'd always fall for it."
Like the many times I caught him staring and if I asked him why he was looking at me like that he'd say he was just wondering why he did just like me instead of Kim, then the next time it would be the three of us, he would act extra interested in her.
Or the time he bought a beautiful dress and gave it to me saying he realised Kim wouldn't fit when he got home. There are many times weird things happened and now I'm seeing it.
"Noah..." I whisper, guilty that I never saw it. "Why didn't you just tell me."
"You were in love with someone else, and I also didn't want to make things awkward between us because I knew you'd be uncomfortable after my confession."
"Well, I'm not now am I?"
We stare at each other in silence.
"I also have a question for you."
I bite the corner of my bottom lip, wondering what it could be, then I nod.
"Can I kiss you?"
