My first official function as a perfect 2.

344 Words
When she started shouting, I thought of what to do. I could argue with her or keep quiet and continue with my preparations. I decided to try to make her understand that it's an official function and I can't keep away from it but no way. It wasn't working. I tried to talk to my dad but none of them seem to understand my plight. They just wanted me to sit at home. I had two main reasons why I wanted to attend that event so bad. Firstly, It was an official function and I couldn't back out mainly because the number of prefect assigned to this function is small. Just the senior prefect and I. It will be unfair of me to stay back. Secondly, I felt it's high time, I stopped this over protective syndrome my parents had over me. It was literally driving me crazy. After my unsuccessful attempts on making my parents understand me, I checked the time and it was almost 8am. I was supposed to be in school before or by 8am so I continued with my preparations. It was drizzling that morning but I was ready to go out on the rain. I wasn't ready to miss the function for any reason. The next issue at hand was leaving the house without their notice. So after I was sure I was ready to go, I used the second door and headed to the gate. I guess nobody noticed my absence until after a few minutes. At least those few minutes gave a time to get transport fare to school from a neighbor who owns a restaurant outside my compound. Few minutes after I had just received the money, I saw my mum. She was calling my name out loud. I ran down the street as I wandered what she'd do to me if I had gone close to her. I was thinking of what to do as tears flowed down my cheeks. After a few minutes, she left. I still stood on my decision. To be continued.
