CHAPTER 3
"Huh?" Everyone froze upon hearing the voice, all turning swiftly toward the direction of the voice.
"It's you.." A medium-height figure, a man in his late fifties, gritted his teeth, seeing it was Matt.
"How dare you come back here!" He waved furiously at the latter stomping towards him.
"Get the heck out right now!" He commanded, raising his hands to slap Matt.
But Bruce, he could bring down the hand; he felt another strong hand clamp down on his wrist tightly.
"I'll make you meet Hades if you dare let that hands down." Max, threatened, glaring at James.
Instantly, James was covered in sweat and gulped down the invisible lump in his throat while trying to shake away Max's hands.
"Max, step back," Matt instructed, stepping forward, his expression calm.
"Yes sir." Max nodded, releasing James, then stepped backward
"You...."
"It's fine James." At this moment, Mirable, Fiona's mother stopped her husband and walked towards Matt.
"We were just about to prepare a death certificate for you anyways; seems like there's no need anymore," Janet began, eyeing Matt, who seemed to be radiating a rather unfathomable aura.
"You should divorce my daughter right away."
"I'm sorry, I just can't do that; I'll wait for Fiona to return; you're in no place to decide for her." Matt refused, turning away from Janet.
"And who in heaven do you think you are?" A mocking voice sounded, making Matt turn to see who it was.
Present in the room were the family members of the Evans family.
On the side was a young man, who had an arrogant expression. He was the one who had spoken just now.
"You're just a toad lucky to have eaten Swan meat, now you want to continue to eat it!" The young man continued, his tone getting increasingly arrogant with each sentence.
"Do you think my cousin would have taken a liking to you, or would you have gotten a chance with her if it was not for the fact that you used some despicable means?"
"You'd better hurry up; agree to the divorce right now!"
"Yes, Smith is right." One of the family members, a fat man putting on glasses nodded, his belly nodding in agreement as he nodded.
"He's just a nobody!"
"Exactly, take a look at his clothes - they are all filthy, completely worn out."
"How can someone like him be fit to marry into the Evans family? Even the dogs in the family are better than you."
"You'd better go off to find someone else to cheat."
All the other relatives chipped in, all giving Matt a death glare, wanting him to get out.
"I'd like to speak to him first." At this moment, a low voice spoke. Instantly, everyone turned around.
"Young Master Walter, you don't need to trouble yourself for this trash, we'll take care of him." Smith flattered, glaring at Matt.
"You don't have to worry," The young man, who was dressed in even more luxurious clothes refused, stood up from the sofa he was sitting on, walking towards Matt slowly.
"You take this," He stared at Matt, pulling out a checkbook, tearing out one of its pages giving it to Matt.
"I've written a million on this."
"You'd better take it. The young master is being generous to you, don't take his generosity for granted." Janet barked, wishing she could hurry over to accept the money on behalf of Matt.
She knew she would be entitled to more of this if her daughter was able to marry such a rich person. There was no way she would allow her to marry someone as wretched as Matt.
"Accept it! What the heck are you waiting for?" Janet's expression changed, seeing that Matt didn't move an inch.
Matt glanced at Walter, then checked his hands, chuckling lightly. What did he think a Million was going to do to him?
Over the years, he had amassed a vast fortune, accumulating wealth that he didn't even know how much it was.
"Alright since you want me to accept it, then I would," Matt finally replied, stretching his hands forward to take the check.
"Now that you've..."
Janet started, only to be cut short by the loud shredding of paper filling the air.
"What do you think you're doing? You ungrateful bastard!" She flew into a rage, lunging at Matt, only to be blocked by Max who stepped forward almost immediately.
"What do you think you're doing, Matt?" Smith scowled.
"You're just an ungrateful bastard, trying to cheat Mister Walter of his money!"
"Mr. Walter was even generous enough to give you a million dollars, yet you dare shred it to pieces, do you think you're worth that much!"
"If I were in charge, you wouldn't even get five hundred thousand, you're utterly worthless."
The family members all began to insult Matt, looking like they wanted to give him up raw.
"You should let Fiona come back" Matt's calm voice cut through the air, taking everyone back.
"If she wants a divorce, then I would gladly divorce her, else no one in this world can make me divorce my wife!"
Everyone swallowed, hearing Matt's words; for some reason, they felt a cold, murderous aura from him, thus making them shut up involuntarily.
"If you think you could force her into doing what she doesn't want, then be ready to face the consequences," Matt added, this time completely releasing his aura, making them all shiver.
"Who told you I'll marry you!" A cold voice pierced the air at this moment, pulling everyone back from their daze.
"Fiona, you'd better divorce him," Janet ran towards Fiona who had just walked into the room.
At this moment, Fiona's gaze was cold as she raised her head to look at the man who had soiled her five years ago. Though she knew it was not his fault, she still couldn't help but blame him.
This was the first time she was having a clear look at him.
"Fiona, I'm back." Matt broke the silence closing the distance.
"This time, I promise I won't leave you. I've come back to take care of you."
"Yay!" Daddy is back.
The happy voice of Emma clapping her hands excitedly and running towards Matt pulled Fiona from her thoughts, and she stared at Matt, her gaze cold.
