SAMANTHA'S POV
It was morning, and I was ready to officially start my work. I checked the time, and it was already eight in the morning. I took my bath, brushed my teeth, and headed downstairs. When I got downstairs, I met May.
"Good morning." I said with the brightest smile as I walked towards her.
"Good morning, Samantha. Hope you had a great night's rest?" She asked.
"Yes, I did. Thanks for asking. What about you?" I asked back.
"It was okay. Thank you too for asking." May responded.
"So where's everyone?" I asked, looking all round the house.
"They have all gone out. Mrs Curtis has gone out to the company, accompanied by Katherine. Little Miss Rose has gone to school, and every other person went their way." May explained.
"Oh, I see. Thank you." I said.
"You can have a seat while I go get your food." May said to me as I nodded and pulled out a chair and sat down.
"Here you go." May said as she dropped a plate before me. I was having an omelette with bacon and bread. This was the first time I'd tried this.
"Thank you so much, May." I said excitedly as I said a quick prayer and started digging in.
It was delicious, it was a simple yet very nutrious meal.
After eating, I cleared the table and washed the dish I used to eat, and afterwards, I texted Katherine.
"Hey, Katherine. Good morning. Sorry, I woke up late." I said.
A few seconds later, she replied.
"No problem. Your university application and registration have been handled by Miss Margo. I'll send you the address. The driver can take you there to pick up some of your materials." She replied.
"Thank you." I said, wanting to turn off my phone when I suddenly remembered why I texted her in the first place.
"Katherine, please can you give me the information of Bill Thomas, the former assisting head of the auditing department in the company?"
"What do you need it for?" She asked.
"I am conducting an investigation based on the files Miss Margo gave me." I told her.
"Okay, give me some time. " She said.
"Thank you." I said.
After some minutes, my phone beeped. It was a message from Katherine. She had sent his file to me.
"Thanks." I sent to her as I went through the file she had sent to me.
"You are welcome. Just remember to take everything easy." Katherine advised.
The file contained his address and his phone number. I decided to call him to set a meeting with him.
"Hello, am I on to Thomas?" I asked.
"Yes, and who am I speaking with?" He responded.
"Hi, I'm Samantha. The reason for this call is that I need some pretty good information from you. I am conducting an investigation into the company you worked at as assisting head auditor before." I explained to Thomas.
"What does that have to do with me?" He asked with an indifferent tone.
"If you could answer some of my questions about the missing fund while you were in the company, it would really be of help to my investigation." I said persuasively.
"Would you like to meet with me in person?" I asked.
"Samantha, I don't want to have any part in this investigation. Besides, I don't know much about the missing funds." He said.
"Then why were you fired?" I asked. If the embezzlement hadn't continued after his termination, I would have thought he had a major part in it. He was acting all suspicious already.
"Look, I was fired because of a suggestion. At that time, some hackers were hired by an unknown executive, and all of the hackers, after minutes of tracking the intruding account, they all said the hacker they were dealing with had a strong firewall and they could not tap into his or her system to get and leading information. I suggested getting a new person to handle the situation since all four hackers had the same result and were recommended by the same person. But they disagreed, I kept pressing the situation, but I got fired. It was termed opposition of a superiors' decision." Thomas explained it seemed they were trying to keep his suggestion out of sight.
"Thomas, do you by chance know the name of any of these hackers." I asked.
"No, their information was highly confidential, and I didn't get to see their faces." He replied.
"What about the executive? Did you find out any information on who it was?" I asked.
"No, nothing."
"Thank you very much." I said. He had saved a lot of trouble, such as navigation. I didn't even get to stand up from my library couch, but I had more than enough information.
This information was very helpful, and I had already started hatching a plan in my head. First, I needed to try some adjustments, and I knew just exactly who could help me out.
