SAMANTHA'S POV

"Hi." A voice beside me said as I nodded.

"Everyone I'd like you to meet Samantha, she is going to be my protégée from now moving forward. No one is allowed to bully or raise a finger at her, I want everyone to treat her well." Margo said as she turned to Rose.

"Including you, sweetie." She said to Rose, who just rolled her eyes and said,"Whatever" in a hushed tone

"Samantha, I would like you to meet Gerrit. He is a clpse friend and also in charge of the financial reports at the company. If you need any information about the financial statistics of the company you can let him know."

"Nice to meet you." I said as Gerrit gave a faint smile.

"You know Katherine and Rose already. That is Coner, the head of security. Beside you is Alex, his son. That is May she is in charge of taking care of the mansion." Margo introduced many off the staff to me.

After the early dinner, I went out to see the rest of the house. As I was walking through the beautiful garden at the back of the mansion, I heard a male voice.

"Like the view?" It was Alex just as I thought.

"Yes, it's pretty amazing." I replied.

"My name is Alex." He introduced.

"Yeah, Miss Margo introduced you earlier." I said.

"Yes, she did, but I thought a reintroduction won't be that bad." He said as I smiled.

"True. On that note, my name is Samantha. Nice to meet you." I acted along as I stretched out my hand.

"Nice to meet you too." He shook my hand as we both laughed.

Suddenly, I heard a stomp, I turned to look at the direction of the noise, and it was none other than Rose. She stared fiercely at me as if she were ready to slice me alive into a million pieces. During the early dinner, she was looking at Alex as if he was her dinner, and she wanted to eat him right up. I assumed they were dating.

"It seems someone is getting jealous." I looked at Alex as I pulled my hand away from his.

"I need to go now, especially so that your girlfriend won't have a reason to throw a tantrum." I needed less drama in my space as it were so anything that would sprout conflict I wanted to stay far from it.

"Nice meeting you once again." I said as I walked further away from him.

"Yeah, see you around." He said.

When I got to my room, I called Nessa right away. I almost forgot I had only called her one, and the day was already dark. She must be worried.

"Hello, Nessa." I said.

"Oh my baby girl, what happened? How are things in the city? Did you get the job?" She flooded me with questions.

"Many things have happened since getting to the city. And I am okay. I didn't get the job, but I got a very good deal." I filled Nessa in about everything.

When I was done, she was so happy. I had promised that when I got my first paycheck, half was going to her. They were many things I didn't do or tell her because of the contract binding me and Miss Margo, and I didn't want to do anything that would breach our contract.

After talking to Nessa for hours, I went to take a shower and then headed to my personal library. I opened the file she had handed me and started going through it.

As I studied the file, I found out that the loopholes of the transactions had started becoming less visible five months after the unaccounted expenditures, and at the same time, the assisting head of the auditing department at that time was fired with no cause.

I planned on investigating more on the information tomorrow. It was already late, and I could not do any further investigation because I had limited information, so I headed to bed.
