By the time we finished unloading the trunk, we had five fur coats, five pairs of fur-lined boots, some mittens that looked like they were made from some sort of skin, and one of those caps with the ear flaps. I thought about claiming that for myself, but one look at Charlie’s scrawny frame, and I knew that the boy needed all the help with body heat that he could get.
