Nobody came to any consensus that afternoon. “Too many cooks,” Shelby had said. But LaKeemba told us she felt sure a plan would come together. I trusted LaKeemba, even if I wasn’t sure I’d like the plan. I was still uneasy about this whole idea of changing the past. Felt too much like we could lose something really good in the future, maybe actually make something really bad.
