Chapter 3 Who Is This Woman?

1226 Words
The clamorous crowd outside suddenly fell silent. Sherry, disheveled, had a man's coat draped over her head, and Mr. Miller actually had his arm around her shoulder? The scene was both suggestive and bizarre. Everyone rubbed their eyes, seeing disbelief in each other's eyes, realizing they hadn't been mistaken. Simon Miller, who always hated touching women, was actually holding a woman's shoulder! Seeing his mother being held by the handsome man, Tommy's eyes instantly welled up with tears. Mindy hurriedly stepped forward to pick him up, whispering in his ear, "Shh, don't worry, it's okay. Wait here." A tear dropped from Tommy's eye, and he became excited, "I'm happy. Mama is finally getting married, and when dad hears this good news, he should cry out of of joy too." "..." Sherry is so pretty, so even with a child, she should have plenty of suitors! How could it be that she's finally getting married? Besides, Tommy, are you sure your dad would cry from happiness and not from shock if your mom got married? Pure Mindy was confused by this family's relationship. Sherry was being led further away by Simon. She was just about to impatiently shake him off, when, the next second, she was forcefully pushed onto the sofa. If it were the same scene four years ago, she would have been scared into tears, constantly apologizing. But now... "Mr. Miller, you hurt me!" Sherry simply leaned on the sofa, reaching to take off the man's coat, the faint scent of cologne still lingering on her nose. Simon reached out to grasp her chin, looking from her brow to her lips, everywhere resembling Rose yet not quite the same. Rose would never undress in public; she was too proud. The woman in front of him was like a replica of Rose, cunning in her actions, with eyes both worldly and clear, understanding right from wrong. "Where's the mole on your chest?" Simon's voice was cold, his fingertips gently parting Sherry's clothes, his cool fingers touching her chest. "What mole are you talking about?" Sherry's heart skipped a beat. They had only slept once... and he still remembered the mole on her chest! Simon seemed to know she wouldn't tell him the truth. Seeing her feign ignorance with a clear conscience, anger rose in his heart. "Turn around and show me your back." The mole on her chest could be removed without a trace, but what about the birthmark on her back? Sherry was taken aback, instantly grabbing her clothes, frowning, "Mr. Miller, this doesn't seem right. You have a fiancée." "What does that have to do with you? Turn around and take off your clothes." Simon's expression remained cold. Seeing her unmoved, his gaze deepened, clearly showing some displeasure. "That's not possible, Mr. Miller. You should stay true to Miss Lee. I wouldn't want to ruin your love." Sherry feigned distress, but her words carried a hidden meaning. Simon clenched his fist tightly, squinted his eyes at Sherry, and pressed her onto the sofa. Their breaths intertwined, their cheeks only two fingers apart. "Rose, why are you still alive?" Sherry clenched her fist, her eyelids twitching involuntarily, gritting her teeth, "Mr. Miller, you've truly mistaken me. I'm Sherry, not Rose. She's already dead. Didn't you see her body?" "..." Simon was taken aback by her words, instinctively releasing his grip, then furrowed his brows tightly. What was he still holding on to...? Sherry's smile turned even more mocking. How disgusting, she thought. Even after her death, he pretended to be so affectionate. Now that she was finally about to start a new life, he refused to let go. The sound of footsteps gradually echoed in the corridor, the crisp and pleasant sound of high heels. "Mr. Miller," Sherry suddenly reached out, grabbed Simon's tie, and pulled him forcefully towards her, her lips curling into a charming smile, "If you can offer me a job, I'd be happy to repay you generously. You get what I mean, don't you?" Simon took a deep breath, looking into her clear eyes, "You want the second female lead in the show?" "No," Sherry's smile grew even brighter, "More than that, I want to be signed by the Miller Corporation." "Do you think you deserve it?" Simon sneered. Very well, after four years, she now dared to negotiate with him. Sherry gently took his hand and slowly guided it to her waist. Even through the shirt, it was enough to change Simon's expression. Her waist was uneven, where there should have been a birthmark, there was instead a palm-sized scar. "Sign me for three years, and you can see as much as you like." Sherry blew softly by his earlobe, her voice seductive and rippling, stirring endless imagination. "One year," Simon took a deep breath, his face stern as he pinched her waist hard, saying in her shocked expression, "No one dares to negotiate with me. Don't let it happen again." "..." You, you, you! You actually pinched me! Sherry cursed him silently in her heart but kept her face calm. One year it is. It's enough to deal with that woman! If Simon's debt to her was because she was allured by his appearance back then, then she would settle the score with Anna Lee, both old and new grudges, bit by bit! The office door handle made a clicking sound as it turned. Sherry's lips curled up, and she stood on tiptoe to give a firm kiss on Simon's face. The woman outside the door still wore a smile, but as soon as she entered, her gaze froze, unable to utter a single word. Simon was beneath a woman, with an odd red smudge on his cheek. "Oops!" Sherry feigned panic as she reached out to wipe Simon's cheek, looking apologetically at the person at the door, "I'm sorry. I don't have much money, so my lipstick smudges easily." Simon was almost amused by this woman's antics. "Simon..." Anna covered her mouth, her brows tightly knitted, as if she was about to cry at any moment. "Are you Miss Lee?" Sherry approached with an apologetic expression, though her tone was somewhat smug, "Please don't overthink it. It's just that Mr. Miller signed me, and I was so happy that I accidentally brushed his face with my lips." Anna's expression grew even darker with Sherry's explanation. Simon had no intention of explaining anything, turning around to hand a contract to Sherry, "Sign it and leave." "Thanks for the opportunity, Mr. Miller," Sherry happily took the contract, quickly filled in her personal information, and before leaving, she gave Simon a meaningful wink. "Remember our agreement." "..." Anna trembled all over, and as Sherry left, she collapsed to the ground, completely drained of strength. Simon stepped forward to help her up, his fists clenched, "What's wrong?" "I... just feel a bit unwell. I'll head home first. Tonight you..." Anna tried to hold Simon's hand, but he dodged. "I've got a meeting tonight, so make sure you have dinner on your own." Simon said, then turned and left, offering words of concern that were merely verbal comfort, without even a hint of explanation. Anna sat on the ground, panting heavily, her back soaked with cold sweat, muttering to herself, "It's impossible. Rose is dead. Who is this woman?! I must be mistaken!"
