A boy alone

The wind rushed past Eli's ears sending a shiver down his back as he ran across the clammy forest floor. Twigs and stones dented his bare feet but the pain had to be endured if he was to escape a worse fate, he could hear rogues searching for him clambouring about in their wolf forms trying to catch his scent so they could rip him limb from limb. He'd watched that exact fate happen to his mother only hours ago. His father the day before that, when they were being held captive at the Riversmeet strong hold that used to be his home.

He felt mixed emotions for his father, he had abdicated as alpha at 19 from the then, largest pack in the state area and all for his mother an Omega with a mark. He refused to look for his Luna even refusing to pick a successorHe hadn't told Eli this himself of course his mother had told him in their last days of capture, his abdication had resulted in chaos in the wolf society, no Alpha no Luna the leader in that pack now was a cruel and relentless tyrant who paid Rogues to hunt for outliers. Outliers like him.

Eli could run no longer, his genius of covering himself in fir tree throngs had thrown them off his scent for now, but it wouldn't be long before they found him. He was just lucky that he hadnt quite turned 16 so he didn't have his wolf scent to mask as well. His heart pounded at the thought his first shift, it would happen soon he would meet his wolf, the other part of him. As he slowed to a walk he came over a well beaten path and followed it round a bend, if there were humans here it would deter the rogues and he could stay safe for another night. A groaning in his stomach reminded him he was hungry, and in that second the delicious smell of cooking meat washed over him, as he turned another windy corner the dim path opened up into a huge car park with a fast food shop and eli realised that he was finally safe after 36 hours of terror. The boy collapsed onto his bloody knees and began to sob uncontrollably.
