Miya’s POV
One week later.
It’s been a week since I’d agreed to do my father’s bidding and broken up with my boyfriend. All I basically do most time is to stay at home and be on my phone.
The alarm blaring from my phone jolted me out of my sleep, I checked the time to see it was almost 10:00am and I’d set the alarm to remind me of the groceries I was to pick up.
My dad’s best friend and his son were coming over and I have never been more dissatisfied with the thought of visitors coming over as I was about the both of them, they were coming over to finalize the contract of our marriage.
Reluctantly, I made my way to the window and that was when I saw that it had rained quite heavily as everywhere was still wet but the sky was still bright, I could go pick the groceries I’ll be needing for tonight.
I’d decided I was going to walk to the mall, my father probably needed his car and putting him in a situation where he’d be unable to make use of it was one idea I hated.
I’d gotten to the mall, it was just a fifteen minute walk from my house and just when I was about to make my way inside, a black car drove right past me at ridiculous speed, splashing water all over my cheeks and ruining my clothes.
“What the f**k?!” I yelled after the car like whoever was driving would hear me, “This is exactly why I hate coming outside when it has rained, the stupid driver couldn’t drive slowly. Can’t you watch where you’re going or even stop to apologize?” I screamed once again, although this time, the car had left my sight already.
I walked in the mall and tried to at least get the stain off myself, “I should’ve just taken the car.” I mentally scolded and slapped myself, blaming myself once again for getting splashed at.
I walked to the ladies restroom to get myself cleaned up properly and when the stain was barely visible, I decided I was just going to go about my shopping.
I was pushing my cart as I walked through the shopping mall in search of what I needed to buy when I felt something stupidly hard collided into me with such force that I lost my footing, falling alongside my cart.
Pain shot up my elbows and lower back and I let out an angry screech on noticing the second person on the floor, a few feet away from me, it was obvious that this person that had collided into me, stupid moron couldn’t watch where’s he’s walking.
I stood up as I massaged my elbow, wincing a little as the man pushed off the floor, and when he stood up was when I realized how tall he was from how he towered over me, he was tall and handsome no doubt but he was also really dumb.
“You just bumped into me and you’re finding it hard to apologize?” I snapped while glaring at him, hoping he would at least apologize but the scoff that fell past his lips after that made me suddenly want to slap him really hard.
Was he really scoffing at me right now?
“If you were concentrating on where you were going then you wouldn’t ram into me like a stupid human being, the f**k is usually wrong with dumbos?” He scoffed as he walked away from me.
Oh wow, he’d just call me stupid and on top of it, a dumbo?! No f*****g way am I just going to stand around and let him call me names.
“Mr flat faced Jerk,” I called after him angrily, I don’t know what it was that made him stop but he abruptly stopped in his track and turned to look at me, “You know you should really watch your tongue and whatever high horse you’re on, I suggest you get yourself back down immediately. Stupid.”
I knew my clap back was weak but it sounded so good in my head when I’d made the speech, I stared at him as he turned back around, heading back towards me.
His figure and countenance was quite intimidating that I’d almost tripped again, he saw this and scoffed again.
“If you weren’t so blind and God damn so unbelievably clumsy, we wouldn’t be in this situation right now. Sometimes, I wonder what’s wrong with you females wanting to be respected so much but still go ahead to do things that get you disrespected.” He added and every word stung, what got me even angrier was the fact that I had nothing to say back against him.
“You know how incredibly stupid and naive you sound bringing females into this—“ I started saying but it was like I was talking to myself because he completely ignored me.
“And oh,” he turned back again, “You probably should get yourself a pair of glasses because trust me, you’ll need it. That would save other people the stress of being collided by you, and you stupidly blaming them for your own mistake.”
He added and I opened my mouth to speak but whatever I’d planned on saying got stuck in my throat as I watched him bend to retrieve a piece of rose that was on the floor, that had probably been what he had been holding when his stupid self had collided into me and soon. his figure disappeared.
I never backed down or lost an argument but it was different with this stranger, which made me unbelievably annoyed. I groaned as I bent to pick up my groceries that were still laying on the floor and continuing my walk to the checkpoint.
I was looking out the glass door when I saw the asshole again, I looked closely to check out the car he had just made his way into, and to my surprise he was the mad driver that had rudely splashed muddy water on me some time ago.
“No wonder. So he’s still the same asshole? Now it’s all starting to make sense, because what more do I expect from an asshole as rude as that?” I breathed out angrily beneath my breath as I brought out my goods for the lady at the checkpoint to go over, I was fuming and my blood boiled especially now that I now know that he was the one driving the ugly black car.
The car isn’t really ugly, I am just mad.
I paid for my groceries and picked my bags to go back home and prepare for the visitors we were having today.
My phone rang and I answered it immediately, it was my best friend and when I heard her voice from over the phone, I felt an immense sense of peace and happiness.
My best friend inseam picked up on my sour mood, and I instantly filled her in on what had happened.
“I detest his ass so much, and wish I can be given a single chance to strangle him to death.” I huffed out angrily while my best friend laughed.
We kept on talking after that.
“Yes, the fool really thinks he’s the deal just because he has it all figured out and is probably rich.” I ranted and after a while, I hung up as I booked an Uber. It wasn’t long till the Uber got here and in less than eight minutes, I was home already.
I’d made quite the announcement when I got home because our chef had come outside to retrieve the groceries from the car after momentarily scolding me for going grocery shopping alone.
He went back in and I was left outside alone with my Uber driver, I made my payment and when I got closer to the sitting room door, I heard hushed voices and I knew at once that our visitors were probably around already.
I snuck through the backdoor that led directly to my parents room and I was grateful for it for once. I'd usually rant about how extremely useless it was for my parents room to have a back door but this time, I was extremely happy the back door was there.
I got into their room and scanned around for a little while before tiptoeing out of there with the hope of getting to my room. My cover was blown when I stood face to face with my father.
“You’re not ready?” He asked, his eyes looking like they’d soon pop out of his skull as he spoke.
Why does he look so surprised to see that I wasn’t ready, it wasn’t like I wanted to have these visitors, I’m only getting to meet them and agreeing to do his bidding because he’d pleaded with me in my moms name.
“I know, dad. I’ll be ready soon.” I groaned as I made my way to my room, I’d gotten to the door when his voice stopped me in my tracks.
“Miya?” He called and I turned to look at him, he was silent for what seemed like hours and it was as though the entire house was dead silent, nothing moved and not even the chopping of the chef in the kitchen sounded.
I watched as my father made his way to me, his expression was unreadable and I couldn’t quite get what was going through his mind. He stopped right in front of me with a smile playing across his face.
Oh, he’s happy.
“Thank you so much,” He said as he pulled me in for a hug that I was unable to return because of how hard he was squeezing me, “And please dress sexy and appealing.” He added and I immediately pulled away from him.
“Dad!” I groaned and he laughed out loud as he winked, making me let out a scoff.
“Eww.”
I got to my room and had decided to take a shower again since the cloth I had on was ruined already, I shampooed my hair and soon I was done having my bath.
Rummaging through my closet in search of what to wear, I finally settled for a red gown and a black heel, I was going to be in my building but I still needed the Wrights to see me as worthy. Not like I care if they don’t.
I made my way to the sitting room and I have never been more shook in my life when I saw my dad, his best friend and a third person.
I blinked in confusion after that.
No way.
No f*****g way.
The jerk from the mall whom I badly wanted to strangle, was sitting right here in my sitting room. I didn’t miss the single rose which he had retrieved from the floor in the mall, in his hand right now.
No way.
No way is this Lucas Wright’s son.
What the hell is he doing here?
