THE CONTRACTED LUNA

834 Words
Ryker’s POV. I stood before Kaida, my eyes locked on hers. I personally took the responsibility of finding out everything about the wolf I mated with last night. I got my findings and now I knew that I had to think about the bigger picture, about the politics of the pack. I would use her…well more of make her a proposal. "Kaida," I said, my voice low and even. "I know that what happened between us was a mistake. But I also know that it could be an opportunity." Kaida looked at me , her eyes narrowing. "What do you mean?" I took a deep breath, my mind racing with the possibilities of my proposal . "I mean that we could use this to our advantage. We could pretend to be mates, pack politics reasons… I am sure you are aware of my position…” Kaida's eyes widened in surprise, and I could see the shock in her ryes. "And what would that achieve?" she asked, her voice low. I smiled, . "It would prove to the council and to Viktor that I am not too busy and stuck on some sensitive issues you have no business with. I don’t have time to look for a mate or do any of the s**t related to that, but since you came to me willingly… you should be able to play the role of my Luna, my chosen mate.” Kaida looked at me. I could see the hesitation in her eyes, the doubt. "Okay," she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'll do it. I'll pretend to be your mate." I forced myself to give her a small smile. I knew that this was just the beginning, that this was just the first step in a long game of pack politics. But I was ready, I was ready to do whatever it took to prove myself, to also distract the council from the topic of the ancient ruins. "Good," I said, my voice firm. "Let's do this, Kaida. Don’t over do any s**t, keep it natural and no room for mistakes.” I knew that it was just the beginning, that there would be challenges ahead. But I was ready, I was ready to face whatever came our way. “Okay, Alpha.” Kaida mumbled. As we stood there, I couldn't help but feel excitement, a sense of anticipation. I knew that this was just the beginning of deadly power move by me. But I was ready, I was ready see this through to the end. Together, we would face the pack, we would face the council, and we would face all that came our way. Once I am done with what I have in mind, we can both go out separate ways. Because in the end, that's what it was all about, that's what this game of pretend mates was all about. It was about power, it was about politics. And I was ready, I was ready to do whatever it took to hide my dark past. As we stood there, I knew that our pretend mate bond was just the beginning. I took Kaida's hand, my eyes on hers. "Let's make this official," I said, my voice firm. "Let's make a contract, a contract that will state the rules … and the consequences if any of them are broken.” Kaida's eyes narrowed. "What kind of contract?" she asked, her voice cautious. I smiled, my eyes gleaming with determination. "A contract that will ensure our loyalty to each other, our commitment to this pretend mate bond. A contract that will make us a team and state out the duties of each party.” Kaida hesitated, her eyes had an uncertain look . But then she nodded. "Okay," she said. "I agree. Let's make a contract." I gave her a small smile . "Good," I said. "Let's do it." For the next hours, we sat down and discussed the terms of our agreement. Each party brought forth thier conditions. As we finished our contract, I felt a sense of relief, that has been taken care of . I knew that this was just the beginning, but till I was done with the council and the topic of the ancient ruins… things would have to be just like this. "Good," I said, my voice firm. "It's official. We're mates, Kaida. Pretend mates, but mates nonetheless." Kaida smiled,. "Yes," she said. "We're mates. I hope we make this work and fool the pack and the council.” I grinned. "I know we will," I said. “Alright… I should get going. I have to move my stuffs to the palace.” Kaida said, as per our agreement she would have to live in the palace to make our act more believable and feasible. But something didn’t sit right, the whole time Kaida seemed distant. Was she scared of being in the presence of an Alpha? Or was there something else I should know about?
