Maybe This Time

Chapter 2

While Phukan was waiting for his husband to come home, his friend Achi suddenly visited him,

"Hi Phu" said Achi

"Achi? Long time no see, why are you here?" he was surprised to see his friend in front of their door

"I was just here in the village then I remembered that you live here so I thought I would visit you, how are you?" Achi asked his friend

"I'm fine, come on, please sit down, sorry I haven't been able to fix and clean the house, I didn't know someone would visit me" Phu apologized

"What are you? It's fine, how are you by the way?" Achi asked

"I'm fine, it's fine" Phukan replied

"Just a moment, I'll just get you your drink" Phu said and then left his friend in the living room

"Here, have some juice first" Phu said then handed the glass with juice

"Thank you, your house is big" Achi said

"No worries, and besides, I'm not the only one living here, I live here with my husband" Phu replied to his friend

"Oh yes, by the way, you're married, it's been a long time since we last saw each other, two years? Am I right?" Achi asked

"Yes, I think so" Phu replied

"By the way, how are you and your husband? I didn't attend your wedding" Achi said

"It's okay, the truth is that we only got married at the city hall, we just got our marriage certificates" Phu replied

"You haven't been married in the church yet?" Achi asked

"not yet" Phu answered briefly

"why? how long have you been married?" Achi asked

"a year and more" Phu answered

'A year of pain and no love'

" is that right, why don't you get married in church yet?" Achi asked

"because Cirrus is still busy, he has a lot to take care of in their company, you know, he's the heir, right?" Phu lied

Because the truth is he didn't really know if Cirrus had any plans to marry him in church but from the way his husband treated him he knew the answer even without asking, Cirrus was just forced to marry him because of their family, Phukan knows that Cirrus had objected before but his parents had threatened him that he would be disinherited if he didn't marry Phu.

Phukan and Cirrus were classmates in high school, and Phu had always liked Cirrus, which is why he immediately agreed to marry Cirrus even though he knew Cirrus didn't like him.

"Is that so? How is your husband? Is he nice to you?" Achi asked

'Should I answer yes or no?' Phukan asked himself

"Yes, he is nice to me, and you know that his parents and his grandmother love me very much, right?" Phu replied

In the end, Phu chose to cover up for his husband,

"I'm cooking lunch, you eat here" Phukan urged

Phukan was just trying to change the subject because he might have say something else.

"Okay" Achi replied, so they went to the kitchen together to eat

After they finished eating, Achi returned to the living room and left Phu in the kitchen to wash up, after cleaning the kitchen, Cirrus arrived from his work.

"You're here?" Phu asked

"Isn't it obvious?" Cirrus asked

"You have a guest? Did I disturb you two?" Cirrus asked again

"ah, no, I'm leaving too, okay ah, thank you Phu" said Achi

"it's nothing" Phukan

"I'm leaving" Achi said goodbye

"you should have been a while ago" Cirrus whispered to himself

"okay be careful" Phukan said

When Achi left, Phu approached his husband,

"are you happy?" Cirrus asked

"what, what kind of question is that Cir?" Phu asked

"did you enjoy yourself? What did you two do here while I was gone?" Cirrus asked

"nothing, we just ate" Phu replied

"ate? or maybe he ate you" Cirrus said

"what are you saying Cir, nothing like that happened okay?" Phu replied

"isn't there really anything wrong Phu? tell me how long have you been seeing that man?" Cirrus asked angrily

"Wait, don't raise your voice at me, and besides, Achi is just my friend, it's like you don't know him" Phu replied

"Friend? Oh come on Phu, we both know that he likes you, he already liked you, and then you're the one entertaining him, you're allowing him to flirt with you, maybe you're forgetting that you're married, what will other people say when they see you with that guy?" Cirrus shouted

"Cir" Phukan said then grabbed his husband by the hand, but he just pushed him away,

"remember Phu, as long as we are married you can't flirt with anyone, now if you can't stop flirting, just sign the divorce papers so you can be free to flirt with whoever you want" Cirrus said

He was about to leave when Phu stopped him,

"is that really how you think of me Cir? flirty? am I really flirty in your eyes? I gave everything for you Cirrus, I did everything, just for you to love me, but why? is it still not enough? Is all the love I gave you still not enough? What else do you want? Why are you doing this to me? Don't you know that I am so hurt because of what you say and do? but I endure everything because I am your wife, we're married Cirrus, I am your wife" Phu said crying

"wife? don't you understand? I don't like you, and I will never love you" Cirrus shouted

Phu was so hurt by Cirrus's words that Phukan quickly took the keys to his car and then drove away from their mansion,

"why is this happening to me? am I really not worthy of your love Cirrus? when will you see my worth?" he asked himself while driving

While driving, Phukan did not notice the car in front of him. It was too late when he realized that he was in the wrong lane. He tried to stop his car but he had no brakes so he just went straight and crashed his car into a pole.
