2. MINE

1320 Words
Elric (the Elf King)   He looks at her, his beautiful mate, his Livia, as she walks down the stairs towards the crowd. The Wizard King, Avalon, invited them all to his castle today to introduce Livia as his mate. But Elric has known for a very long time that Livia is HIS. He wondered what Avalon had in mind and if she was indeed Avalon’s mate as well. Having more than one mate is something so rare that he hasn’t personally ever heard of it happening. But maybe that is the Goddess's will. He will soon be able to find out the truth. It has been two long years since he had seen Livia. She was beautiful before, but now she’s gorgeous, breath-taking. Her blond-silver hair falls down her back in waves as she walks, her eyes shining sapphire-blue, her rose lips plump. She is a sight to behold. He goes to the front of the crowd and something stirs deep inside his soul, Instinctively, he yells, "MINE!" claiming her. He hears someone else echo his word from across the room. The whole crowd looks at both of them, astonished, wondering how this it even possible,   ~ * ~   Laius (The King of Hell)   He had come to this party without wanting to. What is fun about seeing another man’s mate? Especially when he hasn’t and will never have one. The Goddess wouldn’t give Laius something as precious and good as a mate. He doesn’t deserve it. He doesn’t deserve the other, better half of his soul. He knew it. Finding mates is rare and is growing even rarer. Supernatural beings walk around this world, hollow and incomplete, empty shells of beings. It is the punishment from the Goddess, to deprive them of mates. They didn’t deserve such a wonder, not after they killed each other in such a bloody war. Wars even, successive ones, washing the earth with blood and drying it with ashes.  Mates are really important for supernatural beings. They cannot find real happiness and peace without their mate. Everything is dull and lacking. A mate completes them, brings them stability, a home. It is even more important for a king to find his mate; to assure his people, strengthen his power and ground himself. Some males, the most dominant ones like himself, tend to become out of control without a mate, get violent, and even insane. Maybe he has already gone insane.  He only came to this dull party for the Fairy Wine anyways and to honor the peace treaty. Mostly for the Fairy Wine, though, it gave the best kind of high.  He hears the music stop; the Wizard King's mate will make her entrance soon. He tilts his head in the direction of the stairs as he catches a scent, sweet like roses and life. The smell of life itself. He thinks he is going insane. Then he sees her dressed in a light blue gown that hugs her upper half and falls loose at her waistline. She is the most gorgeous thing he has ever seen with her deep blue eyes and her glowing silver-blond hair. She looks like she could be the Moon Goddess herself. Her curves are accentuated by the dress that hugs her thin waist and shows off her round, delectable breasts. And those lips, hell, they are like a juicy fruit waiting to be kissed and devoured.  He makes his way to the front of the crowd and lets out a growl, "MINE!" She is his.  He hears someone else also claiming his mate. The Wizard King is waiting for that goddess at the bottom of the stairs, his hand reached out to the approaching beauty. Laius growls as he looks at him, eyes stormy grey, clouded with possessiveness and rage. The Wizard King also stakes his claim: “MINE!” he said loudly and deeply. Soon, hell will break loose and that will make him feel at home. Laius smirks.   ~ * ~   Avalon (The Wizard King) The Wizard King had waited anxiously for her to come of age. Then the bond would start to grow between them; they would start to feel an undeniable pull and an electric charge between each other. Love would blossom in him as nature blossoms in the spring, breaking through the dry, cold earth and coloring everything with life. Passion would flow through him. He wouldn’t feel dull anymore. He has waited for his mate for far too long, the life inside of him fading away.  As a wizard, he takes his magic and his power from nature and from his life energy. But for the last two centuries, his life force has been draining from him. It was drained by the war and by his long and lonely life. Soon he won’t be able to rule, to take care of and protect his people like before. He has already started to let his inner darkness take over, a darkness with shades of blue that made him see the world in a dull yellow. Without a mate, he can’t be the King or the man he is supposed to be. His people will soon notice the decline of his power, of the life in him, and of his ability to rule. The darkness is starting to slowly take control, making him make wrong decisions, like continuing the war. This darkness grows in immortal beings when they haven’t found the other part of their soul, and it spreads faster in males, especially the powerful ones. He knows that this darkness is aggravated by the Goddess’ wrath. She is not happy with them. They’ve just caused war and destroyed each other. So, as a punishment, She enhanced their inherent darkness and made finding their mates harder than ever. When he found his mate, he could hardly believe it. He wanted to be a better man and a better king for her. So, he took part in the Peace Treaties initiated by the elves and fairies.  He found out that Liv was his mate when she was a toddler, the first time he laid his eyes on hers. She was in Mel’s, his cousin’s, arms. Since then, he has been waiting for her to reach her mating age. He rarely visited her, only seeing her just four times. He thought that seeing her would make it worse, and she was just a child. So, in the meantime, he only wanted to ensure that she would be safe and fine. He was aware of the mystery surrounding her father and that Mel used to disappear for a couple of days every week and take her daughters with her. He was afraid of this, so to protect his mate, he locked her up. The waiting had been excruciating, but today, the day of her eighteenth birthday, it will all pay off. He can finally be with her, claim her, and love her as he was destined to. She was created for him, to love him and make him complete, as he was created for her.  He sees her coming down the stairs, floating like an angel. Her eyes are on the crowd. She is probably overwhelmed, she’s so young, he thinks, but soon she will get used to being a queen. My Queen.    ~ * ~ Liv  Liv notices the strange commotion and the three males that are staring at her like they could take her and steal her away with their eyes. The only one she is familiar with is the Wizard King. She doesn’t know the other two, but they look regal and well... freaking hot.  She does the first thing that comes to mind. She runs.
