The Woman Hunter

1372 Words
Kasel wakes up from a loud, chattering noise. The hunters of Malau are hyped to be the nominated by a wealthy looking man as the head hunters of the tribe together with the Oxtracks Royal Hunters and the Lead Commander.   Royal Hunters are the Highest rank of hunters in Oxtracks. They are very skillful and their bravery is at its finest. Also, the Royal Hunters are ranked in the certain city and no one knows why and how.   The Lead Commander is the Head of the Hunter in the City of Oxtracks, which makes him strongest of the hunters.   They are ranked individually according to strength in that certain city.  How could these hunters be ranked accordingly? What is their system and purposes?  The hunters must train in the city of Oxtracks to be nominated as the head hunter of each tribe.  Oxtracks is one of the wealthiest city in the land of Ozima, and all of the people in there are rich with resources and money.   "All hunters must be ranked for higher amount of bounty." the man announces. "You need to be trained more in Oxtracks. Worry not for you will be given a fine accomodation, food and resources." He continues.   "Huh? At this very night?" Kasel observes the man skeptically, doubting the words he just heard.   "Me, choose me." one hunter calmly raises his hand to volunteer.   "No. Choose me for I hunt better!" the other hunter yells.  As the tribe filled with clamor, Kasel turns to the task board again to look at the letter.  He grabs the letter to examine it carefully.   "Its uniqueness is beyond compelling." Kasel whispers to himself. "I must see old Boy."  "Unbelievable is it? " A woman interrupts after hearing Kasel talking to himself. "I've been waiting for someone to pick it up." She says.  "Black suit, white pants , bows and arrows? You are not a hunter, are you?" Kasel asks as he examines the woman talking to him.   "You must be Kasel."  "How do you know my name woman? "  "Montul told me."  "Old Boy? " Kasel's eyes still fixed on the letter, examining it and trying to understand what it meant.   "You should tell me more about that that letter."  "This letter is far less interesting, and it's not just letter, it's a one word letter." Kasel looks at her with intimidation.   The woman sheath out his dagger and points it to Kasel.   "Tell me." The woman yells, looking at Kasel ferociously with her deadly eyes.   Kasel then walks out of the conversation, leaving the woman unanswered as he heads to the place where he last saw Montul. Kasel did not mind the woman as he never saw a woman who hunt let alone a bounty hunter.  In this world, women are more likely to be wakwak than men. As most women should be doing household chores, that is why most of them are being discriminated and abused here in Ozima.   "Right, don't hold back."  The woman attacks from behind and about to sheath Kasel's weapon, but Kasel's quick reflex unmatched the woman.   "Try harder woman." Kasel mocks.  Urghhh ..   As the woman strikes, Kasel grabs her hand shoves it away like he don't want a woman touching him.   "You fight like a lady, why don't you just get a man." Kasel mocks again.   The tussle continues and accidentally scratches Kasel's sleeve, then paused in awe when the woman saw something on his biceps.   Kasel quickly hold his biceps, hiding it from the woman from whatever she saw on his arm. He looks at her for a moment then turns his back and walks out.   "I'm sorry, wait." The woman calls.  "Get away from me, you're not worth a sweat." Kasel completely tears the remaining fabric from his sleeve then ties it up to cover something on his biceps, while walking through the forest to find Montul.   "My name is Esme, daughter of Buts." Esme says as she continues to follow Kasel.   Kasel did not mind at all and glares at the woman before he walks faster.  "Wait, please, you must help me." Esme begs as she tries to grab him but he turns and stopsher hand and shoves it gently.   "Quit it. You will just be a burden if you come along. Go home, woman, it's already dark and dangerous." Kasel says, walking pass by Esme.  "What was that on your upper arm?" Esme asks seriously, ignoring what Kasel just told her.   "None of your business, I guess." Kasel answers. Kasel suddenlt runs quickly without mere precaution and hesitation and leaves Esme ith a shock, wondering if he was serious or not, but nonetheless, she follows him with haste.  Kasel sees a bread placed in the window and grabs it by the hand. "This will help." Kasel talks to himself and takes a bite.  Kasel runs around the tribe trying to mislay the woman. Glancing at his back in every corner he turns to see if the Esme was gone.   He then realizes he is in the border of the tribe where other hunters gather around and baricades.   He completely lost Esme or at least that is what he thinks and goes straight in the forest.   Kasel sees the chopped logs that old Boy did earlier and it was left there as it was. He checks the house where old Boy lives but he found no one and old Boy was nowhere to be found.  He walks towards the forest and felt old Boy have been there, he feels that something bad happened.   The smell of decay is so bad that it forced him to investigate and found a corpse. The corpse is unrecognizable because of its dark color, and he can't determine if it was from a human's or a wakwak as its blood and oils scattered over it.  Oil? Was that from human?  "That smell is disgusting. What is this place, a graveyard?" Esme comments, grimacing at the smell whilst walking towards Kasel.  "I've been here this morning, I think this is the one I killed." Kasel said."But I can't find old Boy. I wonder where he is."   Kasel stands up, drawing his weapon and points it to Esme, as he is shocked that he was followed unaware by the woman.   "How did you get here? Enough woman." Kasel says, surprised and shocked as he sees Esme once again just when he thought he lost her.  Esme draws a dagger and throw it to the roots.  "There's something in there." She says, narrowing her eyes on the roots as she noticed something under it.   They immediately look at the roots to see what it was and to their surprise, they found a Dwende hiding under it, not so fearsome look of Dwende but a scared creature.   "A Dwende? " Esme says in shock, with her eyes wide open.  "Shhh, leave him alone." Kasel grabs the daggger and tucks it on his waist. "I've never seen a Dwende being scared but that not the problem right now. I need to find old Boy, so go home woman, I can't help you but sleeping might."  Esme got angry and was about to speak something about the dagger but she quickly gets interrupted by the Dwende, before she even got the chance to talk.   "I saw him." The dwende speaks in a very low voice. Dwendes don't talk much so it is a bit surprising for them to hear such a voice.  "It talks?" Kasel was surprised. "They told me you can deflect weapon attacks but haven't heared a single one of you can actually talk."  "Never heared of them." Esme replies, raising one eyebrow in doubt. "But he is cute and well-dressed amazingly." She adds.   "I can tell you where he is. He is in Boong to undergo measuring abilities." The Dwende answers.  "Measuring abilities?" Kasel wonders. "What is that supposed to mean? He's been abducted and forced to fight?"   "Close." the dwende answers. "Almost there."  "What do you mean?" Kasel starts to get furious as he hears the dwende was not answering him specifically.  "Don't scare him Kasel." Esma shoos Kasel and lends her hands near the creature to pick it up. "Come on little guy."  "Be careful, it's not frequent to see Dwendes speak." Kasel warns but Esme did not even bother to hear him out.   The dwende then starts to point out the direction where he saw old Boy and Kasel thought he was pointing at the river but he was actually point at the Boong tribe.   "Now theres the thrill." Kasel says in a neutral manner and face.
