EPISODE 16

We were flown in a cargo plane and on the third day after I had been captured, I and the other witches from the tunnel arrived at the North pole. The North pole was cold. What was I expecting? It was the North pole. I could see ice and snow for miles and miles. A guard tugged at the chain of one of the women. She fell into the snow, dead. I swallowed my gasp as he unchained her and left her body to rot. We avoided looking at her as we passed by her. The girl in front of me spoke. " She was my sister" "I'm sorry" I apologised. " Don't be sorry. Get angry. Do something. We know who you are. You're supposed to save us. I know the demon prince left you behind but I've learnt that you can't count on anyone but yourself. If you don't save us, I'll escape anyways" she said. "What's your name?" I asked "Laraeya" she answered. "Give me three days Laraeya, I swear I'll get all of you out of here," I said. She glanced briefly at me, blue eyes shining with joy. "You have three days," she smiled, c*****g her head. We came to a stop at a small wooden shaft. We were handed shovels and shown where to dig. When it was my turn, I was separated from the others. A guard grabbed me by the arm and led me away from the other witches. As we walked, I saw the witches Saraini had spoken about. They had metal collars around their necks. The metal collars were linked to a huge wheel that moved as the women walked around it in a circle. The machine dug up chunks and chunks of ice. "Where are you taking me?" I asked The guard did not answer, instead, he kept leading me away. We stopped at the edge of a huge icy lake. A boat was waiting for us. He handed me over to the two guards on the boat and walked away. My hands grew clammy with sweat. I was scared. I could feel my heart beating loudly in my head. A blizzard raged as we went further away from the bank. Through the snowstorm, I could make out what seemed like an island. As we got closer, I realised it was just a small piece of land covered in snow. Chunks of ice blocked our path but the guards used a long stick to push it out of the way. Where were they taking me? Were they going to leave me to freeze on the island? "Where are you taking me?" I asked again. No one bothered to answer my question. No one even spared me a glance. I wrapped my arms around myself as the weather grew worse and the storm raged so hard, I could barely keep my eyes open. The boat docked on the island and I was thrown into the snow before I could protest. They were going to leave me here. "This place was created by a black witch. With that collar around your neck, you will never be able to escape. The island was designed to make you freeze from the cold but to prevent death. You will spend an eternity here. You will be cold and you will wish for death but death will never come" a guard snarled at me. "My only crime is being a witch. My people did nothing to you. When werewolves were dying from the plague we saved you and this is our payment?" I hissed, looking up at the guard. His cold brown eyes stared down at me with disdain. "I swear on the goddess and on the first witch. We the witches, we will have our pound of flesh" His boot met my face and I collapsed into the snow, spitting blood. When they left and the cold began to gnaw at my bones, I thought of Aysa. 200 YEARS AGO I smoothed my purple dress for the sixth time in an hour. I needed to look my absolute best if I was to meet Soren. "Why is this so important?" Aysa groaned, covering his eyes as he lay on the ground. "Soren is my mate. I need to look pretty for him" I said, staring out the window, the carriage should arrive any moment now. "You don't need to look pretty for anyone" Aysa shook his head, sitting up. "You wouldn't understand, you haven't met your mate," I told him. "We're only twelve, we have time" he replied, running a hand through his thick black curls. He winced when his hand didn't go through his hair. He hadn't combed his hair like I had suggested. "Sit behind the mirror" I gestured towards the chair beside my bed. "I'll untangle your hair for you" Reluctantly, he rose to his feet and sat behind the mirror. I stood behind him, picking up a comb from the table and running through his hair. " Your hair is in knots. You always leave it this way" I huffed, complaining. "I leave it this way because you always comb my hair and I like it when you do" Aysa smiled at me through the mirror. "Aysa" I sighed, combing his hair " I have a mate now, we can't.....I can't keep combing your hair" Aysa's smile dropped "I hate Soren," he said. "Don't let anyone hear you say that. You might be a prince but half-bloods are not loved by the people. If anyone hears you say that, it could lead to war and you and your people could die" I warned. "Whatever happens Al, I swear, I'll always love you and I'll never leave you," Aysa said, tears shining in his purple eyes as he turned to look at me. I cupped his face in my hands "Your feelings will change" I smiled softly at him. "They won't," he said firmly, a look of conviction etched on his face. His words tugged gently at my heart, confusing me. I had a mate. I couldn't feel like this about Aysa. "I love you, Aysa," I said, kissing his cheek. Aysa wrapped his arms around my waist a someone knocked on the door. I pulled away from him to open the door. Soren stood on the other side of the door clad in a gold and red tunic. His eyes landed on Aysa who stood behind me. "Let's go," I said, hurriedly. I tried to push Soren through the door but he wouldn't budge. "No. I want you to choose. Me or him" Soren smirked but there was a warning in his eyes. I glanced back at Aysa, his eyes were wide and he looked scared. If I chose Aysa over Soren, Soren would tell his father and King Rikki would start a war over his son's mate. Aysa's people were few and their powers had been stripped from them per the council's request. If I chose Soren over Aysa, it would break him but he would be alive. Soren could not suspect that I was having doubts about our bond, I couldn't let him find out that I loved Aysa more than him. "Aysa," I said, turning to face me. Aysa looked up at me, purple eyes shining with hope. "Be a good dog and polish my boots for me. Don't be here when I get back" I hissed. Hurt flashed in Aysa's eyes but I ignored it. I grabbed Soren and led him out of the room. PRESENT I curled into a ball on the ground. I always chose Aysa but he didn't choose me. The wind howled and the cold grew painful. I stood to my feet. The boat had long disappeared and I was done putting up an act. Grabbing the cold metal collar around my neck, I pulled and it fell to the ground in pieces. Unlike the other witches, the collar didn't shock me to death when I tried to remove it. I was a night witch like my mother, nothing could restrain my powers. I closed my eyes, humming a tune. The storm grew wilder and the waves clashed angrily. I could hear the sound of heavy wings flapping as I hummed. The ground shook but I did not fall. A loud roar tore the sky open. When I opened my eyes, they were glowing silver and two enormous dragons stood before me. I hopped on Aresis, my red dragon. His brother, Baziren, followed behind as we flew towards the camp where the other witches were being held captive. This whole time, Soren and his father were digging for my dragons who had buried themselves deep in the snow, they had forgotten that Aresis and Baziren would only come if they heard my voice. Aresis landed on a part of the snowy mountain whiles Baziren let out a loud screech, burning the guards. With a wave of my hand, every collar snapped open and fell to the ground. The sound of freedom echoed through the camp. "Sisters!" I boomed, and the witches stared up at me. "Do what you will" I smiled. From my position on Aresis' back, I caught Laraeya smirking at me before she ripped a guard's head off. We were free. Soren and King Rikki would run if they knew any better.
