Chapter 2

Third person's pov

In the office of Packhouse, former Alpha Cohen and his beta Colton were discussing some issues relating to security of the pack land and pack borders and recent rouge attacks on nearby packs.

Alpha Cohen was a great leader and also the most feared Alpha anyone could have ever met.

His wolf was feral and could snap anyone in small pieces if they try to disrespect him.

It was until he met his mate Sarah, daughter of Alpha Clark, Alpha of Red moon pack.

When Sarah came in his life, his life changed in the best way possible.

He is head over heels for his mate and very possessive of her.

After two years of being married and mating, Sarah gave birth to a baby boy, their little bundle of joy. They named him as Aaron Cohen Carter. He was spitting image of his father.

Everything was going smoothly until those Vampires attacked Werewolves.

That attack made them suffer a lot.

Although they won but they also suffered huge loss of human resources, well in their case Were resources to be exact.

If they had not gotten financial help from Veer Goenka, they might not have been able to make their pack survive in that condition.

But now everything has settled.

He and his beta worked tremendously hard to become strongest and powerful.

He gave his title to Aaron when he became 18 years old and mature enough to handle the packs with responsibility.

Now they are among the top two strongest and biggest packs in the world.

Both Crescent Moon Pack and Blood Howlers are on the top, equally strong and powerful.

They have also signed the treaty among them and formed alliance with each other so they can have easy access of each other's land without being spotted as rouges. And also to help each other in their thick and thin.

As they were discussing some issues, sudden voice of one of the guards who were assigned to protect pack borders rung in their heads through mindlink.

'Alpha Cohen, some human has entered in our territory and is asking for beta Colton.' As soon as he uttered those words, both Colton and Cohen stared at each other frowning.

' He wants to meet me? Well ask him who is he and why is he here?' Colton said through mindlink.

' He is saying that he came from India and he is the attorney of Mr Veer Goenka. He said he has to talk with you on something very important.' The guard replied through mindlink.

Both of them look at each other in confusion. The alpha nodded his head at Colton giving him permission to ask him to come.

'Please let him enter and help him to reach office in the Packhouse' Colton politely said.

"Why would attorney of Veer wants to meet us?" Cohen asked.

"Well I don't have any idea. It's been almost 6 months since I talked with him." Colton said with a shrug.

They have to wait till the attorney gets there.

As the Alpha and beta were busy in their own thoughts, they heard steady footsteps before someone knocked on the office door.

"Come in" Alpha Cohen said.

A man in his late fifties came inside the room.

"Hello Mr Colton Riach, my name is Raj Shah, attorney of Mr Veer Goenka." He introduced himself while shaking hands with Colton and then he glanced at Alpha Cohen and forward his hand to shake, "And you must be Mr Cohen Carter."

Alpha Cohen shakes hand with that man and nodded his head in acknowledgement.

Then his eyes again shifted to Colton and said, "Can we have a talk Mr Riach?" Although he was speaking professionally, his tone was giving a hint of sadness.

"Yeah sure. Please have a seat" the beta replied utterly confused about what he has to talk with him.

The attorney looked hesitant as if to whether speak or not.

Both Alpha and beta furrowed their brows and Colton cleared his throat before asking "what is it?"

"I am very sorry to tell you that Mr Veer passed away a week ago due to a heart attack."

As soon as those words left his mouth, Colton slumped back on the couch with shock.

It was really shocking news for both of them.They could not comprehend their minds towards the news.

It was a heartbreaking news for beta Colton as Veer was his very good friend.

Veer protected his family with his life. If it was not because of Veer, he might have lost his family. Veer sacrificed his wife's life in order to save his family.

The guilt was still present in the heart of Colton. He blamed himself as his friend had to loose his wife's life in the process of saving his family. But Veer never blamed him for anything and said fate cannot be changed. We have to accept what fate brought to us.

Painful memories of 17 years back started to come in his mind.

As he was lost in those painful memories, he felt a hand on his shoulder bringing him back to the present.

"Are you alright?" The Alpha whispered to him as he also felt grief due to the news.

"Yes. I..I am fine." Colton whispered shakily.

Then he shifted his gaze towards the attorney.

" Why we didn't get informed till now?"

" Sir, we tried to contact you but we were unable to contact you. We tried your phone many times but it was of no use . Then we somehow got your address in Mr Veer's documents. so I hurried towards here as soon as I could." The attorney politely answered his question.

" Oh.." Colton quietly mumbled still unable to wrap his mind around the news.

Then the room suddenly became silent. Three of them were lost in their own thoughts.

"Is that the only reason you came here from India?" The Alpha asked breaking the silence in the room.

"No. I came here to inform you Mr Colton that Mr Veer made you the legal guardian of his minor daughter."

He was shocked to hear that was an understatement. Though he and Veer were good friends, more like family but he didn't expect Veer to trust him with his only daughter.

For Veer, his daughter was his world. He was like he could hide her in his own flesh to protect her from any harm.

Colton had met his daughter 10 years ago when she was just a 6 years old chubby and cute girl he had ever seen. Her eyes were sparkling with life.

Her name was .. Nisha.

One look at her and you will forget all your worries in the world.

When he met her, she even called him as Uncle and gave him her candies.

She was just so innocent and he realised why Veer always become happy whenever she was around him.

"Mr Veer's daughter who is still a minor has no one to take care of her.They don't have any trustworthy relatives. So as a legal guardian you have to take her custody in your hands." The attorney said breaking him from his thoughts.

Hearing no words or anything the attorney continued speaking..

"I hope you can come with me to India and be present there for paperwork. And if you don't want to be her legal guardian then you have to fill some documents and perform the related procedure. Then after you will no longer be her legal guardian and she will be granted another legal guardian from the court or sent to Foster home till she turns 18."As Colton heard his words, he did not want to give Nisha in the hands of any other person as his friend trusted her with him.

" When do I need to come there for fulfilling the paperwork?" Colton asked the attorney.

" As soon as possible. Being honest, apart from being Veer's attorney I am also his friend. So I suggest you to get her custody as soon as possible. After loosing her only family, she is in so much emotional pain.Though her friends are with her but she needs some family support and I hope you could give her that." The attorney said emotionally.

"So Mr Colton do you want to take her responsibility?" The attorney asked him.

" Of course I do."

"I just can't believe something like that happened to him. He was all good when the last time I talked to him. He didn't tell me about his health." Colton whispered when the attorney left their office.

"He was indeed a good person. So selfless, helpful and caring." Cohen said remembering the situations when he helped his pack and business financially.

"May his soul rest in peace" both quietly mumbled.

"So what you are going to do?" Alpha asked his beta as he knew bringing a human in the world of Werewolves would be unsafe for both of them.

"I don't know. I mean I have to protect her even if it is with my life as just like a payback for everything he did for us." The beta said with determination.

"But we cannot risk her being in between werewolves. We have to tell her someday. We don't know how she'll take the news of us being werewolves." Alpha said as an afterthought.

"Yes you are right Alpha. We will tell her eventually when she will be strong enough to handle that after her being in this state. Till then we have to hide our real existence from her." The beta said standing straight from the couch.

" Yeah let's do that for time being and try not to scare her. I will ask our pilot to take you to India in our jet." Alpha told his beta and asked him to go home and relax and he will inform Aaron about this situation.

As soon as Colton went to his home, Alpha Cohen dialed Aaron's number despite of having mindlink. As it was almost dark, he knew Aaron would have blocked the mindlink to not get disturbed.

After 2 rings, Aaron answered the phone call.

"Son, Meet me in the Packoffice tomorrow morning." with that he cut the call and went out of his office for a run to freshen up his mind.
