Vivian’s brows scrunched up together as she walked closer to Lyra, “You mean you don’t know who Alpha Alexander is?”
Lyra’s eyes darted towards both walls and she shrugged. Was she supposed to know who Alpha Alexander is? She just met him days ago.
Vivian rolled her eyes, huffing out, “Alpha Alexander is the most cruel man. The one who is popularly know as the cruel Alpha.”
Lyra’s mouth formed an O. The clothes she was holding slowly drooped from her hand to the floor. She just couldn’t understand how they were both men. The rumors she heard about Alexander don't fit into the description of the man that had taken care of her these past days.
Lyra ran a hand through her hair, staring into space, “You know what, I’ll tell you everything later. I just need to get these things and leave. Liam might come in here any moment from now.”
Vivian nodded and moved towards Lyra. Bending down, she began placing the clothes on the floor into the duffel bag.
“Get out Vivian. I want to speak with Lyra alone,” Liam appeared in the doorway, gritting his teeth as his eyes stared daggers at Lyra.
Lyra stiffened. Even though she knew she was under the protection of Alexander’s guards, she still couldn’t overcome her fear of Liam’s beatings.
In the past, whenever Liam gets so mad, he hits Lyra. And right now, seeing the look on his face, Lyra knew it was likely to happen again.
Vivian’s hand tightened on the duffel bag as she bit her lips. Lyra’s eyes held a quiet understanding. She patted Vivian on her shoulders.
Vivian hesitated but left the room.
At the same time, Lyra’s eyes turned frosty.
“Where is my child?!” She barked.
Liam chuckled, walking slowly into the room with his hands in his pockets.
“Gone. Until you become my mistress, you’ll never set eyes on her.”
He had to be kidding right? How dare he say such words after brutally rejecting her?
“You don’t deserve even a strand of my hair after what you did to me!” Lyra’s voice was high pitch as she fisted her hands by her side.
Liam’s eyes narrowed. Without warning, he grabbed Lyra’s hair and hit her head hard on the wall behind her.
Stars danced in Lyra’s vision and her head ached bitterly. Grabbing hold of Liam’s hand, she pulled at it. But only felt more ache in her head.
With a smirk and a push, Liam released Lyra, walking out of the room with his shoulders squared.
Bastard.
Wiping the tears that had gathered at the corners of her eyes, Lyra stood up on shaky legs. She took the duffel bag with her. One of the guards saw her and took it from her.
“Alpha Alexander had finally arrived for the alliance. At last our pack will have more backing,” a teenage maid squealed, holding her hand over her mouth as she told an older woman.
Alexander was here? It would be better if Lyra showed Liam and Aliyah that her new mate absolutely dotes on her. And no way in the world would Alexander be as cruel as Liam.
Although Lyra was scared what would happen if Alexander found out she’s been mated before. It was no news that Alexander, the cruel Alpha doesn’t get together with girls that aren’t virgins.
Lyra let her legs lead her to the guest room. Where Liam is probably hosting Alexander. At the foot of the door, Lyra met Aliyah getting in. Aliyah noticed Lyra and stopped. She smirked, squared her shoulders and walked into the room.
Lyra sneered and walked in after Aliyah. Like the rumors described Alexander that was exactly how he was in the room - cold, domineering and aloof.
However immediately his eyes rested on Lyra, his lips broke into a smile. Then he frowned. But it was soon replaced by the smile.
He stretched out his hand towards Lyra. And Lyra walked up to him. From the corner of her eyes, Lyra saw a smirk on Liam and Aliyah’s faces.
Lyra knew they wouldn’t tell Alexander she was his former mate. Knowing Liam he would want to blackmail her into becoming his mistress. So Lyra still had time.
She stopped in front of Alexander before standing at his side. Alexander took Lyra’s hand in his huge one as he caressed it slowly, squeezing lightly.
“I didn’t know you’d be here,” Alexander said softly.
His shift in composure turned a hundred and eighty degrees. At Alexander’s gesture, a small smile formed on Lyra’s lips.
Lyra eyes flickered towards Liam. With a knowing smile, she disentangled her hand from Xander’s hand. And she plumped on Xander’s thigh.
A hearty chuckle rose from Xander’s chest. And the sound made goosebumps rise up on Lyra’s arms. She had never been in close proximity to a man before apart from Liam.
Xander wrapped his hand around Lyra’s torso and she leaned in to his chest. Facing Liam, she found a stormy expression on his face.
“So what were you talking about?” Lyra smirked, holing eye contact with Liam, enjoying the look of fury on his face.
“Yes, we were talking about the merging… By the way, Alpha Liam. This is my mate Lyra. I expect her to be treated with the same respect as me.”
Xander said to Liam and Aliyah. He called him by his title. Because it was important for Alphas to call each other by their titles as a way of showing respect to each other.
Aliyah’s hand tightened on the wine cup she was holding. She bit her lips hard, while she glared at Xander’s arms around Lyra’s torso.
“Yes, Alpha Alexander,” Liam gritted. His brows furrowed and he nudged Aliyah with his leg.
“Yes…yes, Alpha Alexander,” she smiled. However her eyes held no warmth.
Xander smiled, “So back to where we were. The lands between…”
“I’m sorry for interrupting, Alpha Alexander. Should Lyra be here with us while we discuss something important such as this?”
Xanders fingers on Lyra’s torso which had been drawing little circles stopped. His eyes shot daggers at Liam.
“Your little mistress over here get to be here. And you dare ask about my mate’s presence?” Xander asked slowly.
Lyra felt her lungs constricting. The air in the room had gone denser from Alpha Alexander’s aura. His anger made him unknowingly release some of his aura. And Lyra had to admit that it was indeed scary.
Her back tensed behind Xanders chest. Soon, the room returned to normal temperature and Lyra could breathe properly again.
Looking at Liam, Lyra found him to be taking deep breaths. Even though Liam was also an Alpha Male, Lyra knew his wolf was almost intimidated by the sheer intensity of Xanders aura. It was so strong that glancing at Aliyah, Lyra saw sweat coated on her forehead.
“I didn’t… didn’t mean it that way. You can continue,” Liam stuttered, his eyes on his hands, unable to look Xander in the eye.
“Good. As I was…” Xander stopped at once and sat up, taking Lyra with him.
His eyes were glued to the bruise at the side of Lyra’s head. The one which had been caused by Liam hitting her head against the wall.
“Who did this to you?” Xander asked, his voice frosty as he pushed some hair off Lyra’s face.
