Scarlet's POV
Ding!
The sound of the elevator reaching my destination brought me out of my thoughts, and I adjusted my cap once again before stepping out.
A few people raised their heads from their desks to glance at me but immediately returned to their work.
To them, I was just a delivery man—nothing more.
A beautiful young woman approached me, and I couldn't help but look down at her very exposed cleavage.
Wow. She is definitely looking into seducing someone today.
“You must be the one with a package for Mr. Falcone. Give it to me and I will hand it over to him.” She said, moving to take the box from my hands, but I held it tight.
“Forgive me, but my instructions were clear. I can only give this package to Mr. Falcone.”
The woman frowned at me and was about to say something when the elevator door opened.
We both turned to it, and my heart raced as he walked out.
Kai Falcone.
The man who relentlessly hunted me in my dreams.
I never thought I would see him again.
That the two of us would ever be in the same space, and I swear that my memory did him no justice because the man coming towards me was drop-dead gorgeous.
He raised his eyes to me, and for a moment, I thought he would recognize me.
“What's going on here?” He asked coldly.
Before I could speak, I felt a hand push me aside, and the cleavage-exposed woman stood in front of me.
"Mr. Falcone, he claims he has a package for you and has insisted on giving it to only you.”
Kai's eyes landed on the box and then on me. He stared at me for an uncomfortable while before he finally spoke.
“Who is it from?”
I cleared my throat in an attempt to pull off a deep voice “I can only tell you the name of the sender when we are alone, Sir?”
“Sir, I suggest you let me handle this.” The man who had walked out of the elevator with Kai spoke and looked at me coldly.
I felt goosebumps at his gaze and immediately looked away.
How can a man's eyes look so empty?
“It's fine. Come with me," Kai said.
I looked at him in disbelief.
He actually agreed?
Kai walked past me to his office, and I immediately followed behind.
My gaze roamed round the huge office before it settled back on him.
He sat at the edge of his desk fixing those beautiful blue eyes on me.
I swallowed, ready to get to the point, when he said.
“Your mustache is about to fall off.”
“W-what?” My hand subconsciously reached for the beard, but it was still intact.
Did he just trick me?
“You said you had a package for me; what is it?”
He saw through my disguise, and for some reason, that didn't surprise me.
I walked towards him and handed him the box.
He stared at the box for a few seconds, but before he could open it, a knock came at the door.
“Come in.”
The man with the empty eyes entered, and his gaze immediately landed on the box.
“What is it?” Kai asked calmly.
“You shouldn't open it.”
Kai smiled, and I could see where my little Ellie got her beautiful smile from.
“It's not a bomb, Alex.” He joked.
Alex looked at me and grumbled, “I still wished to be here when you open it.”
Kai said nothing and just opened the box.
He pulled out the picture from it and just stared at it.
“That is Ellie. She is three and a half years old and…is also your daughter. Our daughter.”
Kai let out a cold, humorless laugh. “I allowed you in because I was curious why a woman decided to dress herself up as a delivery man, insisting on personally meeting me.”
He dropped the picture back in the box and sneered, “Never knew it was an attempt of a crazy woman to claim her child as mine.”
“I will call security and drag her out right away.” Alex said, already dialing a number on his phone.
I ignored him and took off my cap, letting my dark hair fall to my back, and then pulled off the fake beard.
“Do you really not remember me? Four years ago at the Merry Blue Hotel."
Kai narrowed his eyes, and I could still see doubt in them.
I needed to convince him before security dragged me out because this was my last chance to save my baby.
“Come on, you couldn't have been so drunk that you were unaware that you slept with a woman.”
“Drugged.”
“What?”
“I was drugged.” He stated.
Drugged? Does that mean he is unable to recognize me?
“Boss, you can't actually be buying her story, right?” Alex hissed at me.
“Then do a DNA test. I know I look very suspicious right now, but the only reason I took this risk is because Ellie is sick. She needs a bone marrow transplant, and unfortunately, I am not a match for her, and that means you might be the only hope of my daughter surviving.”
“Boss….”
“Leave us." Kai commanded without taking his eyes off me.
Alex looked between the two of us and finally nodded.
When the door closed, Kai strode towards me and slowly walked around me as if assessing me.
I remained still, wondering if he maybe had recalled something, but a gasp slipped from my lips as he wrapped his hand around me from behind.
“Stay still.”
My body obeyed before my mind could even understand.
It was just like that night when my body was under his control and not mine.
Four years later, it still obeys him.
I inhaled sharply as I felt his face in my neck.
“You smell like Primrose.” He whispered, fanning my skin with his hot breath.
“What?” I asked, my breath slightly ragged from having him so close to me.
“That is the scent I have never been able to forget for four years.” He murmured softly.
A current flowed through my body when his tongue licked my skin, leaving wet traces behind.
His hold on me tightens as he whispers into my ears. “What did I call you that night?”
I closed my eyes as my mind once again traveled to that night when he devoured me.
"Your f*ckable rose.”
