Kai's POV
That night was a blur for me. All I could remember was her scent, her moans, and how well her body had fitted into my hands.
Before I woke up, she was gone, and finding her four years ago wasn't an option because I couldn't afford any distraction.
But never in my widest imagination did I ever think that a day would come when she would stand before me.
A day when I would hold her this close.
I inhaled her scent, and it was exactly the same as four years ago.
Intoxicating. Like a drug meant to get me addicted.
Before I knew it, I was licking the space between her neck and shoulder, and the way she shuddered reminded me of that night.
Was this really her?
“What did I call you that night?” I whispered, my breath fanning her ears.
"Your f*ckable rose.”
I froze for a moment and then immediately let go of her.
She turned to look at me confused, and all I could think of was that it was really her and that meant the child...
Do I really have a daughter?
“Is she really mine?”
“Yes. If you don't believe me, I have no problem doing a DNA test.”
The fearless look in her eyes was enough to tell me she wasn't lying, but unfortunately, that was not enough for me.
I strode to my desk to grab my phone and then called Alex.
"Hello, boss.”
I looked at her and asked, “What hospital is she in?”
“Newford City Hospital."
“Her full name.”
“Ellie Thompson.”
I nodded and said, “I need you to do a DNA test sample between me and that child. Her name is Ellie Thompson, and she is at Newford City Hospital. I need the result before the end of today.”
"Yes, boss.”
“And Alex… be discreet.”
“Understood.”
I ended the call and then noticed a frown on her face.
“What?”
“That's it? Won't you even go see her? How can a DNA test be done without you being there?”
“First of all, Alex can use the hair in my comb for the test, and secondly, until it is proven that she is my daughter, the little girl means nothing to me.”
My words might be cold, but it was a fact. Having a kid wasn't exactly part of my life goals, but if this Ellie kid was truly mine, then I would take care of her.
I will love her to the best of my capability, but I doubt I will ever win the Father of the Year award.
“So will she suddenly mean something to you when it is proven that she is your daughter? Will your affection switch be turned on?”
“If it is proven that Ellie is mine, then I will take her. She will be given my name and have everything that comes with being a Falcone.”
“You are not taking my daughter anywhere. The only thing Ellie needs from you is your bone marrow, not your name or anything else!” She said angrily.
I let out a cold laugh. Perhaps I would have actually bought this act if I hadn't seen it somewhere else.
“You still haven't told me your name?”
“Scarlet.”
Scarlet. A beautiful name.
I walked closer to her as I asked, "Well, Scarlet, how much do you want?”
Scarlet frowned, confusion written all over her face. “What do you mean?”
“Ellie being mine would automatically mean you have hit a gold mine, so to spare both of us the drama of you pretending you love your child more than the money, let's just get straight to the point. How much do you want to forfeit your right to Ellie?”
Pak!!!
My cheek burned from the impact of her hand, and for a moment, my mind went blank.
How dare she?
“Don't you ever put a price tag on my daughter because that slap won't be the only thing you will be receiving from me.” She said, f*cking pointing at my chest.
"And the next time you raise your hand to me might be the last time you ever have hands.” I warned, glaring at her, but damn me for thinking she would for a little be scared because her gaze on me only hardened.
“Not everyone is after your money, Mr. Kai Falcone. You may have a handsome face, wealth, and power, but unfortunately, those things are not able to make up for a rotten attitude. If I wanted your money, I would have come to you a year ago when I saw you on the news, so get off your f*cking high horse.”
I scoffed, “You know, I could ask security to throw you out.”
She closed the distance between us and whispered, “F*ck you.”
I smirked as I looked down at her. “Only in your dream, Princess, because the only way that is ever happening again is either I'm drugged or drunk.”
“You…”
My phone rang, cutting her off, but I ignored it, unable to take my eyes off her.
The way her chest rose and fell in anger secretly made me satisfied that I was capable of rattling her up.
It made me feel like even after four years, her body was still under my control.
Who the heck is she to make me feel this way?
My phone rang again, and this time I glanced at the caller ID and immediately rejected the call, but the number called back almost immediately.
This time, I accepted, taking a step away from Scarlet.
“Are you at the office?” My dad asked on the phone.
“Why?”
“Because I'm almost in your office.”
“What?” I frowned, turning my head to Scarlet. My father can't see her, not now.
“I need to discuss something important with you, and do not tell me you are busy because this can't wait.”
I heard the sound of the elevator opening,
and I just knew he was only a few steps away from opening that door.
I ended the call and said to Scarlet, “You need to hide.”
