Scarlet's POV.
I thought dressing up as a delivery man would by far be the most ridiculous thing I have done, but here I am, under the desk of the city's most wealthy man, hiding from his father.
“What was so important that you couldn't wait to arrange a meeting with me?” Kai asked coldly.
Who speaks to their father with no emotions?
This would probably be the question in my head if my own father wasn't such a bastard himself.
His dad, Philip Falcone, scoffed. “Do I need an appointment before speaking to my son?”
“What do you want, Dad?”
“Are you being serious right now? Do you have any idea how humiliated our family was because of you? What kind of man fails to show up on his engagement day?”
Engagement?
So he already has a woman.
I clenched my fist as a strange feeling began to settle in my chest.
I gasped when his hand suddenly raised my chin, bringing my face in direct contact to his slight bulge.
What was this bastard doing?
“Did you hear that?” Philip asked.
“Hear what?” Kai replied nonchalantly.
“Is someone else here, Kai?”
My heart raced at his question, and despite me hating my hideout, I really wished the old man wouldn't catch me in such a position.
Kai ignored him and thankfully changed the topic. “Last I checked, I don't remember agreeing to this marriage.”
I released a soft breath of relief, glad that his dad was no longer focusing on my presence, but unfortunately, my innocent act resulted in the slight rise of the thing in between his legs.
I swallowed, closing my eyes to ignore it, but I found myself opening them back and glancing at the thing that took my virginity four years ago.
Yes, Kai was my first, and there was no one after him, not when I couldn't trust in love again.
“This marriage isn't a choice for you, Kai. It is a union between the Falcon and the Mason. One agreed upon even before you were born. As heir of the Falcone family, I expected you to know your duty, but your actions yesterday just show how immature you still are.”
Kai chuckled. One so dark it sent chills down my spine. “I thought we had already come to the conclusion that I am no longer your puppet.”
“Remember, your grandfather's will. You have only a month left to get married, and to be honest, apart from Emilia, I see no other woman willing to put up with that attitude of yours.”
His father was right because just a few minutes with Kai was enough to drive me insane.
To think this bastard actually offered me money to abandon my daughter.
Yup, good luck to this Emilia girl because she will really be needing it.
“As I once told you, you do not need to worry about my affairs,” Kai said, moving his hand to my head and patting it gently.
What the f*ck?!
Does he think I'm a dog?
“A month, Kai. You have just a month.” His father warned, and I flinched when I heard the loud slamming of the door.
My goodness, rich people and their silly problems.
Once Ellie gets Kai's bone marrow, then I'm taking her far away from this family drama.
“Do you plan to come out or do you enjoy the view of my d**k?”
His taunting words made me realize how close my face was to his crotch, and, without thinking, I quickly came out, but instead of giving me space to fully leave, Kai acted as a stumbling block between me and my freedom.
He looked at me with those beautiful blue eyes of his, and I was almost lost in them when he decided to open his mouth.
“Was one night not enough for you?”
“What?”
He grabbed my arm and pulled me into his lap.
My eyes widened when I felt something poking me, and before I could say a word, he beat me to it.
”Marry me.”
I blinked.
For a moment, my mind went blank, and I wasn't so sure what I had just heard.
“What did you just say?”
Kai furrowed his brow and muttered, “I hope Ellie took my brain because yours is quite slow.”
“You…”
“I need to get married before accessing my grandfather's will.”
“Then why are you getting me involved? From your father's words, you already have an Emilia waiting for you.”
He smirked. “Is that jealousy I sense?”
“You wish,” I snorted, and I immediately covered my nose.
I can't believe I just snorted.
As the feeling of embarrassment washed over me, I tried getting up, but Kai's grip on me tightened, and I noticed a slight smile on his lips.
Damn! Why was he created with such a perfect face?
“Unless you don't want Ellie to have a stepmother, you will agree to marry me.”
“Your marriage has nothing to do with my daughter.”
“Really?” His smile became more sinister as he said, “I would like to know if the court thinks the same once I file for full custody.”
“Only after I am dead will you ever take my daughter away from me, Kai Falcone.”
“Then marry me. Give Ellie a family. Isn't it every child's dream to have their parents together?”
I raised my brow at him. “Was it yours?”
He scoffed, “Hell no. That dream quickly turned into a nightmare.”
I didn't ask further because it was the same for me.
Growing up seeing your dad using your mom as a punching bag was enough for me to know not all children wished to have their father in their lives, but Ellie, my little baby, deserves nothing but the best.
Being a Falcone could give her so many opportunities; I would never be able to provide for her even if I worked for two lifetimes, but to be married to this jerk….
“Scarlet.”
My gaze met his as he called my name.
“You, Ellie, and I can be a family, only if you say yes.”
“I thought you weren't certain she was your daughter.”
“I wasn't, but those eyes were certainly gotten from me, unless you were lucky enough to sleep with two blue-eyed men on the same night.”
“You have a foul mouth.”
He smiled and leaned towards me with only an inch separating our lips. “This foul mouth is also capable of making you scream in pleasure.”
I swallowed. My eyes darted from his eyes to his lips because I could still remember how his lips had brought gave me my first orgasm.
I could still remember the way he had kissed and devoured me like I was his last meal, and f*ck, I want it all over again.
