Scarlet Pov
“I'm coming with you." I said as Kai walked past me after getting a message.
“I will bring her back; there is no need to follow.” He replied without even giving me a glance.
I increased my pace and stood in front of him, causing him to finally look at me, but the look in his eyes subconsciously made me take a step back.
“I will bring Ellie back to you, Scarlet. Stay here and wait for us.” He said coldly.
I couldn't even get a word out before he walked out. My eyes just stayed on him until he was out of my sight.
What just happened?
Why couldn't I speak just now?
And that look in his eyes…. It was so terrifying.
Who really are you, Kai Falcone?
….
Three hours. It's been three hours since Kai left, and there has been no news from him.
All messages sent remained unanswered, and all calls go straight to voicemail.
This has never happened before.
Neither Ellie nor I have ever been in danger, but the moment Kai comes into our lives, my little girl gets kidnapped.
What if this is related to him?
No. When it comes to Ellie, I can't take chances.
Now that she has gotten the bone marrow, maybe it's best we both run away.
I opened my phone, about to dial Kai's number again, when a message popped up.
“Meet me at X private hospital.”
X? Isn't that the best hospital in the country?
Could something have happened to Ellie?
My heart sank at just the thought, so without wasting any second, I basically ran outside and immediately entered the first empty cab I saw.
In less than twenty minutes, I got there, and surprisingly, Alex was at the entrance waiting for me.
“Is Ellie with him? Is she okay?”
“They are both fine.” He replied curtly, as if being forced to answer me.
I ignored him and just continued to follow him until we stopped at a door on the top floor.
He opened it and I immediately went in, but the scene before me made me freeze for a moment.
Ellie, who seems to be unconscious, tightly clung to Kai, who gently pats her back as the doctor treats her.
I blinked, but the scene still remained the same.
Ellie hates strangers and has never liked unfamiliar people touching her, so why…?
"Mr. Falcone, all her vitals seem to be alright, but since she recently just got a bone marrow transplant, then she still needs observation and enough rest.”
“How will that work if the child has refused to let go of me?” Kai asked flatly, but his hands still remained on Ellie's back.
“Give her to me," I said, already moving forward to take Ellie from him, but the little girl wouldn't budge.
Even when unconscious, she tightens her hand around Kai's neck, refusing to let go of him.
I frown. Ellie has always wanted to be in my arms, and now, she is clinging to this man.
“Just what happened that made her this way?"
Kai chuckled, looking at me. “Why? Can't handle the fact that your kid now loves me more than you.”
“I'm serious, Kai. Ellie getting kidnapped has something to do with you, right?”
His smile slowly faded, and his gaze moved to Ellie.
He tried putting her down on the bed, but the girl refused, holding onto him until he whispered something into her ears, and unfortunately, the only words I could catch were
“I won't leave you.”
Ellie's grip on him slowly loosened, and he laid her on the bed.
“Check on her again and make sure she is a hundred percent alright.”
The doctor nodded, and I gasped when Kai grabbed my wrist and dragged me out of the room.
“What is wrong with you? Let go of me!” I screamed and forcefully pulled my hand out of his grip.
“Are you saying I got my daughter kidnapped?"
“Ellie and I were fine before you came in. Why is it that the moment you entered our lives, my daughter was put in danger?”
His jaw tightened, and I saw a glint of guilt in his eyes. “It will never happen again.”
“Good. Because I'm not waiting for it to happen again. Once Ellie gets better, I'm going far away with her.”
Kai frowned. “You seem to be forgetting that we have an agreement.”
“I don't remember making any agreement with you, Mr. Falcone. At first, I wanted to marry you because I thought a marriage with you would bring Ellie opportunities I could never provide for her; it would give her a father, but now I know she is better off without these things.”
Kai stared at me, and I was certain that I was ready for whatever threat he would make next, but to my surprise, he smiled.
“If you want to leave, then leave. I won't stop you.”
He won't stop me?
Why do I feel irritated hearing that?
“However, my daughter isn't going anywhere with you, Miss Thompson.”
“What?”
“I hate it when I have to repeat myself, but since we have concluded how slowly your brain works, then I will say it again.” He walked closer to me, and I took a step back until my back hit the door.
“The only way Ellie can continue to be in your life is if you are married to me, princess. If not, I will take full custody, and even if you were to somehow run away with her, I will find you, and you will be put in jail for taking a child you have no legal binding to.”
*Pak*
I didn't even know the moment my hand landed on his face and honestly didn't care because he deserved it.
Kai glared hard at me, but this time I refused to be afraid.
“Only a monster would threaten a mother with her child. Why do you even want to get married to me, Kai?”
He grabbed my chin, making sure my eyes met his. “Don’t think you are special because I wish to marry you, Scarlet. And thank your lucky star that you are the mother of my child because I meant it when I said you wouldn't have hands the next time you raise them to me.”
