Chapter - 42

Elly felt too guilty once again as she kept thinking that it was all because of her carelessness now both Nina and her brother got affected. ‘If only I was not so dumb-headed… Right now, we all could have escaped easily without anyone getting hurt or losing life,’ She thought and it made her cry even more. James got worried as the sound might alert the witch if they kept on making such loud noises. He did not want the witch to know yet that they have not only infiltrated the boundary but also entered her chambers. “Do not worry, nothing will happen to me. We will meet once again, I promise,” After saying that Nina slowly closed her eyes. “No… No… No…” Elly bawled her eyes out and as they feared someone entered the basement with loud footsteps. James quickly picked Elly in one hand and using his other hand, he lifted the bags that the kids brought along with them. He then flew towards the exit as the footsteps got very close to them. His heart was almost racing and he, for one second thought that they got caught by the witch. He turned his head once before he jumped out of the broken wall and noticed that the witch had come into the prison.  But to his surprise, she did not even lift her fingers to stop them. Other than a small knowing smile in the corner of her mouth, she did not have any other expression. “Look, my plan worked…” Bairania proudly informed someone who was standing behind her. “Your clone entered his team successfully and now Peter is poisoned. I could finally taste the great victory,” She laughed out like a maniac and pushed Linda into another cage that was still intact. Then she ordered her slaves to rebuild the broken wall with a snap of her fingers. The slaves started to work on the wall immediately while she glared at them with disgust. “These useless and soulless creatures… If only they had a little bit of their mind to act and listened to all my orders without being enchanted, how good would it have been now? Those militants could have not breached my wall and these fools could have found them sooner and stopped them,” Bairania kicked the cage with her foot in frustration. The slaves shivered and hurried their hands to put the wall together again. At that time James turned around to check the broken wall and found that something was wrong. When the witch did not do anything at all even when they rescued the kids, his doubts became clearer. He thought that she let them go because Elly might have become one of her kind.  He stared at the poor Elly, who was still crying her eyes out, and felt sympathy towards her. Yet, James could not just believe her and decided to keep an eye on Elly for now. Just when the broken wall was about to be fixed, Nina lifted her hands, and using her last remaining strength, she broke the lock of all the cages. The animals, birds, plants, and whatever can walk on their own, rush outside the cages towards the broken wall. They all looked at Nina thankfully and bowed their head at her. Then they broke the fixed wall and rushed outside the building in groups. Elly lifted her head and looked at the creatures in wonder. “Look, princess Nina helped them escape,” She shouted and made James hurry outside the border. Meanwhile, inside the building, Bairainia lost her patience and entered Nina’s cage.  “You! How dare you? Did you forget your mother and father’s lifeless bodies are still in my possession?” She asked Nina and lifted her leg to kick her. But she stopped hurting her as she noticed that Nina had already lost her life. Instead, she stomped on the floor and came out of the cage. She then pulled someone from the dark and pushed her towards the cell next door. “So, what if those creatures escape? I have you in my hands now. You are enough to bring down this whole planet,” She grudgingly held Linda’s hair and uttered. When Linda was pushed inside, she saw Nina’s body disappearing into thin air. Nina’s body turned into a speck of dust and moved upward and then vanished from her sight. Linda understood that Nina’s soul traveled to Asran where she will be reborn again. She then chuckled and said to Bairania, “Do you know? I have read that a Yunacel has the power to be reborn fifteen times. Since Nina’s life ended tragically and she is also very young, I am sure that her soul by now had traveled back to the Asran star. She would begin her new life once again from where it ended.” “So? I will make sure to catch her again and put her inside this cage once again. No one can stop me… If she can be reborn fifteen times then I can kill her fifteen times… I did kill her parents, so she is nothing in front of me,” Bairania muttered in a resentful manner and walked out of the cell. “You will never win this war! The militants are more intelligent than you think. They will soon figure out that it was not me and my clone who is with them now. You, just wait and see! You will be doomed forever,” Linda uttered through her gritted teeth and cursed Bairania. Bairania laughed and mockingly said, “Just worry about your life. Right now, you are my prisoner. I can kill you with a snap of my finger. But I won’t do it considering our old relationship.” Linda clenched her fist and regretted ever giving in to Bairania’s wishes. If only I rejected her proposal then everyone would have stayed happy and this planet would have not faced such a horrible fate. Bairania looked at Linda’s face and asked her, “Why? Are you regretting it now?” Linda did not reply to her and held her head down. She did not want to waste her breath by talking to this evil witch. When James noticed the clone Linda coming from the west, he became alerted and pulled out his weapon. He then questioned Linda,  “Did you not go east to check the perimeters? What were you doing for so long without even responding to your communicator? We have been waiting for you for such a long time. If you had been a minute late then we all would have left without you. So, Where did you go?” “Chief! Relax! I first went east to check the perimeter and then to all the other directions as I did not want anyone to attack us in our blind spots. Then when I reached the west, I saw Bairania taking someone hostage. As I was far away, I could not see the person’s face. So, just to be sure that everything is alright and we were not discovered, I watched her movements until now. Once she entered the building, I flew directly here to warn you all,” Linda said relaxedly. At that, someone from the militant group shouted, “The portal is closing, we need to hurry if we do not want to get stuck in this place!” They all flew towards the exit in a hurry and they failed to notice that Linda’s eye color had changed. But Elly noticed that change and tried to question her aunt Linda about it. “Aunt Linda, your eyes…” Before she could even open the mouth, Linda pressed her hand on top of her forehead and made her unconscious. “Oh! Look at this cutie… She went to sleep right after she came out of that horrible place. I am guessing that the evil witch must have never let her sleep or take rest. My poor baby…” Linda made a tut-tutting sound and pretended to have sympathized with Elly. She then lifted her in her arms and said, “My little baby… My brother and sister-in-law will be happy to know that you are still alive…” “Chief, once we reach the headquarters we should send some militants after my brother’s family…” Linda said and noticed James’s disapproval. So, she immediately changed her sentence and said, “I mean to say that we should send someone to inform them that we have their kids safe with us. Don't you think so too? I think the sooner we sent the message, we can expect help from them as well in return to bring down the evil witch.”
