Chapter 79: The Frozen River
Lord and Serry watched in horror as, in the last possible second, the Ruckorr’s paw snatched Zack from the air. There was no saving the man, but Serry could still avenge him. The Ruckorr’s momentum sent him diving across the waterfall, and the second the monster touched the water Serry raised her hands. One last effortful breath in defiance of her injuries, and the stream solidified in dark-matter infused ice around the feathery predator. With its wings frozen still, its limbs shackled by ice, the Ruckorr screamed and shrieked, helplessly casting his fireballs as it plummeted past the edge of the ruins to shatter like an old vase at the planetary surface below.
