10 Amelia “Stay still. What were you doing fighting with a snake almost as wide as you?” I spread the salve on the wolf’s injured side while using my magic to slowly seep the salve deeper into his wound to eliminate the snake poison in his system. I was tempted to give him a knock on the head when he gave me a pampered whine and stared at me with soulful, aggrieved eyes that were as irresistible as puppy dog eyes. “Look how far you’ve fallen because of poison. What if I hadn’t come to the woods today? Wouldn’t you have died?” I was both distressed at his pain and annoyed at him. Since the day he had come to that clearing to accompany me, we had become close friends of sorts. And whenever I came to the woods beside Mage Hall to get herbs or just to be alone, he always accompanied me.
