"The beginning is the most important part of the work." ~ Plato. "Sorry for your loss." "She was a wonderful woman. May her soul rest in peace." "We are truly sorry for your loss." I wanted to scream at each and every one of them. I don't want to hear it. I don't want them to make me feel more s**t than I am feeling already. I don't know how will I cope with it. Just imagining my life without her now felt like a thousand thorns pierced my heart. She was always there for me. When I first fell and cracked my head, she was the first person whom I ran to. When I first fell in love at the age of twelve, I ran to her. When I had my first kiss, I told her. She was my rock, my best friend, my secret keeper, my grandmother. And now watching her in a coven with her eyes closed for forever something broke inside me. My mother used to fly back and forth from Italy to New York, so I grew up with my nona. I also have a nice bond with my mother because Nona used to always say how much trouble my mother had gone through for me. I blink my eyes as I try to gulp down my saliva. It was very hard to stop myself from crying. I couldn't do it. I can't see her like this. I… I have to get out of here. Watching her beautiful face for one last time, I turned around and walked out from our family house. My mind was in turmoil, I didn't even know where I was going but one thing was sure in my mind I would definitely do something in spite of anger which has turned into grief. Little did I know I would land myself in a bar with a girl in my arms coming back to our family house. And as nona said, there will come a time when I am going to regret being a womaniser. I used to laugh and wink at her saying I was too irresistible for a girl to handle. But now her words are going to come true. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “What the hell is going on here?” The man yelled, fisting his palm. “Who are you and what the hell you are doing at my house." His mother thunderous voice echoed all around the house. He felt like his brain was repeatedly being hammered and he could barely open his eyes to know the very reason why her mother was screaming like a banshee. Maybe it wasn’t a bright idea to get drunk on his grandmother’s funeral but a man has his own way to grief. “Get the f**k out. NOW!” His mother once again yelled at the top of her lungs making him groan louder. He stirred on his bed and tried to sit up, wanting to know what the whole commotion was about. Suddenly his bedroom door opens and a red-haired girl storms inside in black lingerie making him smack his forehead. He huffed out an exhausted breath knowing fully well a earful lecture waiting for him outside, but as the day was not so going great for him, he stared at his mother who stood behind the girl. “Marcello Trocelli! How many times, I'm going to tell you, never bring those filthy sluts to my home!” His mother spat throwing dagger at him. “MOM, PLEASE.” Marcello pleaded rubbing his forehead. But he was freaking out from inside and his eyes were on the girl who was picking up her clothes. “YOU'RE MAKING MY HUNGOVER WORSE FROM YOUR SHOUTING.” Marcello grumbles loudly and looks at his mother from the corner of his eyes. His father stood there awkwardly not knowing what to do. He knew that his son was the type to sleep around with girls and it was one of the biggest mistakes to bring his flavour at home. Especially when his grandmother gets buried tomorrow. He looked at his son who was rubbing his forehead with a terrible headache and on the other hand his wife who was shouting at Marcello. It was his fault being so careless and giving his son this much freedom. He didn’t care what Marcello was doing outside the office, he was satisfied with the way Marcello was leading the company. He felt proud looking at his son when he ruled the business world but now he felt disappointment. “Mom I....I just couldn’t take it. You know how much I hate when someone leaves me.” Marcello whispered and her mother stiffened hearing that. “That’s not an excuse.” His mother replied back looking at his son in disbelief. Eleanor stood in front of her son and looked at him as if he just murdered a person. She loves her son too much. Why not because, he was a blessing to her wrecked world. After five year of marriage and trying for a baby finally she got pregnant and from then on Eleanor and Stefano did whatever it took to bring the world down to their son's feet. Stefano moved toward his wife because he knew his wife would get a little over dramatic and their conversations would get ugly. “Elle.” Stefano cooed at his wife making a small circle at her back. It’s not good for her to take this much stress. She was recently diagnosed with High Blood Pressure and their son was making it more difficult. And it’s high time, he should take control over this. If he loves his son this much to spoil him then how much he loves the women who gave life to him. For him his wife will always come first. He knew whatever he was going to say next will destroy his bond with his son but he had enough of watching his wife take stress. He slowly intertwined his hand with Eleanor, making her stop. She looked up at him with scrunched eyebrows and Stefano gave her a assuring smile and nodded looking directly at his son. Stefano's shoulders get broader, as he stands firmly and looks at his son like he looks at his business partner. “You know what?” He started letting out a breath to calm himself down. “From now on, you are going to stop sleeping around with these women. You should start taking responsibilities and find yourself a wife. You are going to settle down.” His voice held authority taking his son and wife in surprise. Marcello's blue ocean eyes widened and he stood up from the bed, with a boxer hanging loose on his waist. He looked at his parents with an open mouth. “Wife” The word was echoing around his mind. He was pretty sure he did think his father was going to say something bad but this “Wife" was not even in the list or worse in his world. “You are going to get married and I'm giving you one month to find yourself a wife.” Stefano dropped another bomb and this time his wife gasped hearing that. But she didn’t dare to say a word. “WHAT.” Marcello shrieked, with a dropped jaw and horror eyes. He couldn’t get married and tie down to some girl. At least not right now. A shiver ran down his spine, just thinking about spending his life with one single girl. He wasn’t even planning on getting married to anyone ever. “Dad, are you joking. I can’t get married now! And within one months? I don't even have a girlfriend!” He pointed out. “You're twenty eight year old, Marcello. You are ready to get married and start your own family. Find yourself a decent girl that you will spend the rest of your life with.” His father stared at him, matching his audacity. But Marcello definitely didn’t like that sound. “Wife" “Family" “Marriage" “One month" "ME" “I'm sorry dad, but I can’t do that.” He refused, running his hand through his charcoal black hair. Stefano moved towards his son and stood an inch apart and smirked looking at his son's blue eyes, the exact replica of his and Marcello knew The Devil Businessman Stefano Trocelli could do anything to seal the deal. Stefano next word rip Marcello world apart. “It’s either you get married in three month or I'm announcing Giovanni the C.E.O of Trocelli shipping & Co.” That's how all hell broke loose. Marcello has dreamed of becoming the C.E.O of his father's company from childhood. He used to watch his father how passionate he was about working. His father was his ideal. And slowly that became his dream. With one goal on his mind he worked day and night doing his best to become the next C.E.O and now his father's decision made him sick but it was not that which made his blood boil in anger, rather it was Giovanni his cousin. If someone asked him what he loved the most he would proudly say his company and what he hated the most it's his cousin Giovanni who dreams the same thing as him. And Marcello will die before giving his company to Giovanni. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Hey lovely people I'm back with a new story.
